I am so happy for the Duggars!
A lot of Catholics, heck, a lot of people in general can learn from this family. Despite having such a large family, they are completly debt free (that includes their huge house which they built....themselves!), take no government assistance, all their children are homeschooled, learn both violin and piano, and are happy, healthy, and productive members of their family.
While they are not Catholic, they live a very Christian life. Their days are centered around family prayer and Bible study, they obiously don't use birth control : : , they help the poor both here and abroad. The girls are dressed in dresses or skirts and always modestly. Traditional gender roles are respected, though the parents make sure the kids are able to do some tasks that would ordinarily be done only by boys or only by girls (i.e. the boys learn to cook, the girls learn to change a flat tire)
This is a good family and it is too bad the rest of the general public fails to see that. |

They can celebrate the freakish Nadya Suleman with no husband and 14 children conceived artificially, but a traditional religious family like the Duggar's are mocked for being faithful to God's plan.
Not unexpected, considering the depraved society we live in. _________________ Pray for holy priests. |

| Wow. This is amazing. I love hearing about families with lotsa kids. I often wonder how they do it. I have no particular talent with children whatsoever. |

| Now they have become a publishing interest of sorts, which can bring in much money. But, according to their site they got their start by (a) lamenting their early use of birth control, and (b) practicing frugality including a practice of not incurring debt. |

Do you think so? It seems to me that they ridicule her, too. |

Only 19?
How about these records:
The highest officially recorded number of children born to one mother is 69, to the first wife of Feodor Vassilyev (1707-1782) of Shuya, Russia. Between 1725 and 1765, in a total of 27 confinements, she gave birth to 16 pairs of twins, seven sets of triplets
, and four sets of quadruplets. 67 of them survived infancy.
The modern world record for giving birth is held by Leontina Albina from San Antonio, Chile. Leontina claims to be the mother of 64 children, of which only 55 of them are documented. She is listed in the 1999 Guinness World Records but dropped from later editions.
The youngest mother whose history is authenticated is Lina Medina, who delivered a 6˝-pound boy by cesarean section in Lima, Peru in 1939, at an age of 5 years and 7 months. The child was raised as her brother and only discovered that Lina was his mother when he was 10.
On April 9, 2003, Satyabhama Mahapatra, a 65-year-old retired schoolteacher in India, became the world's oldest mother when she gave birth to a baby boy. Satyabhama and her husband had been married 50 years, but this is their first child. The baby was conceived through artificial insemination using eggs from the woman's 26-year-old niece, , and the sperm of the niece’s husband.
Jayne Bleackley is the mother who holds the record for the shortest interval between two children born in separate confinements. She gave birth to Joseph Robert on September 3, 1999, and Annie Jessica Joyce on March 30, 2000. The babies were born 208 days apart.
Elizabeth Ann Buttle is the mother who holds the record for the longest interval between the birth of two children. She gave birth to Belinda on May 19,1956 and Joseph on November 20, 1997. The babies
were born 41 years 185 days apart. The mother was 60 years old when her son Joseph was born. |
