This is where mods put articles that need to stay front and center for any given period of time.

Keep political posts relevant to Catholicism/religion

Political posts can be worked onto the AQ board. In fact we do it all the time. Tom’s post regarding Mosques is a good  example of how to work political type posts onto the board. So are other posts with known Catholic authors , religious subject matter etc.

That said, we are not a political or “issues of the day” type of site. Please do not to post articles or vanity posts that have nothing whatsoever to do with our subject matter.

As the presidential election goes forward and gets progressively heated, keep this in mind and try to keep it topical. read more

Unbelievable – New AQ members haven’t been able to post for about 2 years

In my latest efforts to do some much needed upgrading and repairing of AQ, I decided to go through the user list (which I haven’t gone through in detail for some time) and saw that we now have over 6,200 members. I didn’t realize we had that many – and something about that figure just started bugging me. The math didn’t seem right. So, I decided to drilling down further on these statuses and realized that the majority of those users had a status that didn’t allow posting. read more

How to add images with the new comments system

You da man Tom!

Leave it to Tom… and just when you thought I knew what I was doing  – if anyone actually ever thought that.

Here I am, beating my head against the wall, looking high and low for a solution to our problem of not being able to post pics using the new comment system. Meanwhile, Tom is nonchalantly adding images/pics into his comments, like – “no problem d00d.” I’m like “how did he do that?!”

Tom is a sly dog, and is MUCH smarter than he lets on. We can all thank him for finding the simple solution to what I thought was a complicated problem. read more

Okay, it’s getting prettier – the changes to AQ (avatars! voting! Editing!)

It’s, it’s… overwhelming!

I’ve been busy as of late.  We were due for a facelift on the frontend and backend. Not THAT backend – which I’m sure some of our enemies would to like to see.

The previous AQ worked well for us but the theme was outdated, not scalable, not stable and contained old hack code that would have been very difficult to clean. Even if it could have been cleaned, the theme was 3rd party and wasn’t supported, so we would have continued to have headaches. I got tired of involuntarily advertising Levitra – plus with the Holy Father in town we should look our best. read more

AQ changes: Not as pretty but it works

The changes are obvious. You may or may not like the cosmetics, but these changes were necessary.

We were using an outdated theme that was built by a third party – it had been heavily modified over time and hadn’t been supported by the third party for many years now. It was never supported by WordPress. Hence, updates were not available from WP or anyone else, so when things went wrong with files or code etc., it was not possible to get help or replace corrupted files.

Some of our files had been hacked over time. Other files were obsolete and causing problems that many of you may have come across while you were using AQ. I tried to keep the other format as long as I could, until the issues were not surmountable. read more

Novena To Our Lady Of Fatima May 5th –May 13th

O most Holy Virgin, who hast deigned to come to Fatima to reveal to the three little shepherds the treasures of graces hidden in the recitation of thy Rosary, inspire our hearts with a sincere love of this devotion, so that by meditating on the mysteries of our redemption which are recalled in it, we may gather the fruits contained therein and obtain the conversion of sinners, the conversion of Russia, and this favor that I so earnestly seek, request which I ask of thee in this novena, for the greater glory of God, for thine own honor, and for the good of all people. Amen. read more

I stand with Archbishop Cordileone!

SOURCE: Life Site News

San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone, well-known for his uncompromising defense of orthodox Catholic teaching and pro-life and pro-family values, urgently needs your help!

Gay activists, politicians and dissident Catholics have launched an all-out media attack campaign against the archbishop after he recently announced that he wants to codify a long-standing, commonsense expectation that Catholic schoolteachers in his diocese uphold and display public integrity regarding Catholic teachings on a wide variety of topics. read more

Bertone knew of resignation of Pope Benedict XVI and the advent of Pope Francis months beforehand

Shorter version from the British Catholic Herald ( ):

Cardinal Bertone: I knew of Benedict’s plan to resign seven months in advance

posted Thursday, 19 Feb 2015

Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, former Vatican Secretary of State, has said he knew Benedict XVI was planning to resign “at least seven months” in advance – and that it was “not at all easy” to keep it a secret.

The cardinal made the revelation in a candid interview in which he offered a staunch defence of his record and his lifestyle – much criticised in the Italian press – since stepping down. read more

Feast of St. Francis of Assisi

October 4 is the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi. Through his powerful intercession may our intentions be brought to the throne of God. St. Francis, pray for us, and for the Church.

Most High, all-powerful, all-good Lord,
All praise is Yours, all glory, all honour and all blessings.
To You alone, Most High, do they belong,
and no mortal lips are worthy to pronounce Your Name.

Praised be You my Lord with all Your creatures,
especially Sir Brother Sun,
Who is the day through whom You give us light.
And he is beautiful and radiant with great splendour,
Of You Most High, he bears the likeness. read more

Novena to Our Lady of the Rosary Sept 28 – Oct 6

(This novena is so incredibly important, especially in light of the current persecution of the Christian world! The traditional feast day of Our Lady of the Rosary and her victory at Lepanto occurs on October 7th.)

Begin with the prayer below for each day. Then continue with the Fatima Novena prayers.

The Fatima Novena Prayer to Our Lady of the Rosary

O Immaculate Heart of Mary, my Mother, I come to thee this day as a little child in prayer.
I beg to make this offering of my heart as simple and childlike as I can. The three little ones of Fatima have taught us what pleaseth thy maternal heart. I earnestly desire that all the people of the world be brought back to a humble knowledge and love of the Sacred Heart of thy dear Son. I pray, dear Mother of my God, that the indescribable beauty and the glow-white purity of thine own Immaculate Heart may so captivate our souls that we will detest all sin and dedicate our lives to the honor and glory of the God who created us. read more

Novena to Our Guardian Angel Sept 23 – Oct 1

Novena to Our Guardian Angel
Sept 23th – October 1st

[Say the novena for nine consecutive days.]

O holy angel, whom God, by the effect of His goodness and His tender regard for my welfare, has charged with the care of my conduct, and who assists me in all my wants and comforts me in all my afflictions, who supports me when I am discouraged and continually obtains for me new favors, I return thee profound thanks, and I earnestly beseech thee, O most amiable protector, to continue thy charitable care and defense of me against the malignant attacks of all my enemies. Keep me away from all occasions of sin. Obtain for me the grace of listening attentively to thy holy inspirations and of faithfully putting them into practice. In particular, I implore thee to obtain for me the favor which I ask for by this novena. read more
