The Teflon Don

The St. Gallen Mafia eagerly awaits its final implementation of the Vatican plan to promote the normalization of same sex relationships in the upcoming October Synod on the Youth.

However, the plans of men are often frustrated by events outside their control.

The inopportune release of the Pennsylvania Grand Jury Report of homosexual clerical sex abuse and coverup couldn’t be worse for the St. Gallen Mafia. As always, they turn to their clever and cunning Don to finesse this PR nightmare by strong arming the critics with his merciful maneuvers.

Francis finds himself in a papal pickle. His two favored American fundraisers are in hot water. It’s not that he truly cares about Uncle Ted and Donald Wuerl; it’s that he worries that the scandal is spilling over into the Tiber, flooding St. Peter’s and Casa Santa Marta. He is culpable.

His response to Church scandals always focuses on protecting himself and his media megastar image. It’s never about fixing the problem, clarifying the confusion, or making amends. It’s always about damage control… of the image of the Merciful One.

The timing of the American scandal couldn’t be worse! The screaming American news headlines are interfering with his long awaited and carefully orchestrated unveiling of the pro homosexual agenda during the August World Meeting of Families in Ireland and the October Bishop Synod on the Youth and Vocations.

Ironically, the sexual exploitation of both youth and vocations by homosexual clergy dominates the 900 page Pennsylvania Grand Jury Report.

Can you hear Cardinal Farrell whining, “Why did we call it the Synod on the Youth and Vocations?”

The Francis Response

The mainstream media wants action from its telegenic papal darling to respond forcefully to the exploding American clergy scandal.

Rule #1 – It’s always about Francis.  Francis always crafts a response that staves off any personal culpability. The Vatican communications team is now huddling around the clock to craft his speech, full of righteous indignation, trivial solutions, and vacuous grand gestures. Undoubtedly, because of his own personal vulnerability, Francis will throw in a cardinal’s scalp for good measure.

Watch out Wuerl, you might be the sacrificial lamb.

Rule #2 – Play to your audience: the Mainstream Media.

Nerves are frayed at the Vatican because their ideological buddies, the NY Times and Washington Post are pursuing this clerical scandal, chasing down leads, and issuing Op-Eds calling for Wuerl and others to step down. Although Francis charmed the leftists at the Old Gray Lady when he served them up a radical dish of “who am I to judge,” but even they need to hear some righteous indignation every once in awhile, even if it’s contrived.

Rule #3 – Grand gestures, feigning empathy and anger.

The Chile Example

The Chile clergy coverup scandal is instructive. For three long years, Francis failed to act to remove Bishop Barros who covered up sex abuse. Francis personally appointed Barros as bishop of Osorno despite massive protests by Chileans. Francis handprints were all over this disastrous appointment.

Since 2015, Francis personally possessed the victim’s detailed testimony that Barros had covered up and witnessed sex abuse. Nevertheless, Francis blindly defended his amigo, Barros, dismissed the victims’ pleas, and continued the years long protracted coverup.

Only after Associated Press published a photo of Cardinal O’Malley in possession of the documentary evidence which, according to O’Malley, was delivered to the pope, did Francis decide to move against Barros. The scandal reached his doorstep. He was cornered.

Francis found himself in the messy middle of the lingering Chilean clerical sex abuse scandal. In order to save his hide, Francis dispatched Msgr. Scicluna to Chile to investigate the Barros allegations and return with a report for the Pope. Despite previous papal protestations, Scicluna found credible evidence against Barros who finally submitted his resignation to the Pope.

But in a grand gesture of hubris for the media, the Pope asked for the interim resignations of all 34 Chile Bishops and Cardinals (except Errazuriz, who was the most culpable!). After the applause died down, the Pope only accepted the resignations of 5 bishops.

Will Francis try the same publicity stunt with the 450+ American bishops and Cardinals?

Despite the temporary razzle dazzle of mass resignations, the remaining 29 bishops returned to Chile and their assignments. Here lies the continuing coverup: The Vatican did not publicly release the 2300 page Scicluna Report which contains details of clergy sex abuse and the coverup. In other words, trust the Vatican that the right bishops were fired, and the faithful have no need to know the details about the coverup.

Unseal the entire Scicluna Report on Chile! Do not hide it in the Vatican Secret Archives.

But instead of transparency…

Case closed, you bothersome laity.

Rule #4 – Exploit the Scandal for His leftist Agenda and Benefit

Recall how Francis invited all the Chilean victims of Barros (whom he had previously viciously scorned and castigated) to a Vatican day of listening and dialoguing? Francis the Merciful met with each one for hours. He was full of contrite repentance.

Never one to pass up a golden opportunity to push his leftist agenda when the world is watching, Francis used one of the victims, Juan Carlos Cruz, to promote his papal homosexual agenda. The media gushed when Francis told the openly gay Juan Carlos Cruz that “God made you like this” and he loves you and I love you.”

You got to hand it to Francis. His calculated  and very clever PR move silenced the frothing press. Headlines screamed around the world that the Vicar of Christ acknowledged that God made people gay. Francis affirmed that homosexuality was a manifestation of the divine plan of creation. He instantly silenced his media critics over his massive mishandling and coverup of the Chile sex abuse scandal.

What a masterful stroke of Jesuitical jujitsu by Francis!

Be prepared for similar Francis Follies in response to the damning and exploding American clergy abuse scandal. With the media watching at the World Meeting of Families in Dublin, Francis will deploy his artful theatrics, phony bureaucratic fixes, and trusty merciful mantra.

These scandals are perpetuated by his persistent and relentless promotion of the homosexual agenda at all costs. He must finish the work of the St. Gallen mafia. So far, the unrelenting sex abuse scandals haven’t stuck to him.

Will the Teflon Don of the St. Gallen mafia escape again the mounting outrage over his predatory prelates grotesquely portrayed in the PA grand jury report?

Advice from J. Edgar Hoover seems appropriate here. Hoover warned about the rise of the mafia crime syndicate, “When morals decline and good men do nothing, evil flourishes.”

Stay vigilant, vocal, and don’t be fooled.
