Catholics Lean Left

Senators act like Catholic nominees are biased towards Catholic morals

Democrat senators fear Christians, especially Catholics, will let their faith blur their legal judgment.

Some examples are last year’s grilling of Catholic Amy Coney Barrett for a seat in federal court and Evangelical Russell Vought for an administrative position.

In 2015, six Catholics were on the U.S. Supreme Court when it legalized so-called same-sex marriage. Justice Anthony Kennedy consistently favored so-called gay rights and upheld abortion in a 1992 case. Fellow Catholic Justice Sonia Sotomayor was appointed by President Obama based on her leftist views.

Catholic senators have a long history of voting anti-Catholic — including Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, Tim Kaine, Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi, to name a few. Catholic Republican Sen. Susan Collins of Maine says she won’t approve any Supreme Court nominee that isn’t pro-abortion.

“I would not support a nominee who demonstrated hostility to Roe v. Wade,” said Collins.

Fellow Catholic Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska is on the same page.

Recent polls show Catholics typically lean left on moral issues:

  • Sixty-five percent believe employers must provide contraceptives for workers.
  • Fifty-four percent say Christian bakers must make cakes for gay weddings.
  • Forty-seven percent are for transgender bathrooms.

Bishops themselves push left by spilling far more ink on social justice issues than in fighting moral issues like abortion or same-sex “marriage.”

  1. Socialism: New Face of the Democratic Party [and the Catholic Left]

    by David Nussman • • July 9, 2018

Socialist ideology becoming more normal among millennials

[Left-wing “Catholic”] Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: “This is not an end. This is the beginning!”

Out-and-proud socialism could become the norm in the Democratic Party.

In New York, political outsider and democratic socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez won a stunning victory in the primaries for the House of Representatives, unseating 10-term Democrat Joe Crowley.

The 28-year-old ran on a platform similar to Bernie Sanders and is endorsed by groups like Black Lives Matter, Move On and People for Bernie.

Democrat Party leadership is heralding the young woman’s victory as a sign of the party becoming more diverse and moving farther left.

Democratic National Committee Chair Tom Perez: “She really, you know, she represents the future of our party.”

Polls show that many millennials are openly socialist — and even communist. One survey found that 44 percent of young adults would prefer to live under a socialist regime.

On some college campuses, full-on riots break out whenever a conservative is scheduled to speak at an event.

This shift to the extreme is being reflected in the Democratic Party, as the supposedly more moderate Establishment is yielding to a younger, more radical base.
