Situation in Church “Very Alarming” – Cardinal Burke

en.news – 6/10/18

“We cannot allow the Church to go in a false direction”, said Cardinal Raymond Burke to the Polish weekly Sieci (June 6).

Burke called the situation in the Church “very alarming, first of all, because the fundamental truths of faith are undermined, put into question.”

Burke criticised that “there is no strong leadership from Rome”.

As a matter of fact there is a “strong leadership in Rome”, even a dictatorship, but it leads in a wrong direction.

  1. I take the final paragraph to be an editorial comment from en.news and not a direct quote from Cd. Burke. It is very accurate, nevertheless.

I recommend folks take five minutes and read about the gravity of the mortal sin of Liberalism in “Liberalism Is A Sin.” In a few pages Fr. Sarda demonstrates from St. Augustine and St. Thomas that it is THE gravest, most treacherous offense of which fallen man is capable, this side of Hell itself.

Cd. Burke is measured in his comment but it is rooted in the identical premise spelled out by two Doctors of the Church and the focus of Fr. Sarda’s effort.

  2. Quote: “Burke called the situation in the Church “very alarming, first of all, because the fundamental truths of faith are undermined, put into question.” ”

Part of the problem is that the big media give more air time to flamboyant liberal Catholics who say what they want to hear. That is why a liberal modernist fruitcake like Father James Martin is hosted on CNN and invited to parties by Anderson Cooper.

And that is also why you will hear and read very little about orthodox Catholic criticism of the Bergoglian papacy in the mainstream media. The suppression of traditional Catholicism and conservative Catholics is rarely if ever reported.

    For the Catholic bashers:
If being Irish causes someone to be liberal and pro-abortion, why is Cardinal Burke pro-life? Why was Richard McBrien a crazy liberal modernist, but Ralph McInerny wasn’t?
