Pro-abortion Irish ‘Catholics’ no longer hold the Catholic faith

Pro-abortion Irish ‘Catholics’ no longer hold the Catholic faith

Dorothy Cummings McLean

BELFAST, May 31, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – Kudos to the Belfast priest who told pro-abortion “Catholics” to “get married in City Hall” instead of being “hypocritical and dishonest by using the Church for the day.”

In a refreshing departure from milquetoast pronouncements of clerics in the South, Belfast’s Father Patrick McCaffery has made it plain that cultural Catholicism – or, as I prefer to call it, Catholicism-as-ethnicity – is no substitute for the authentic faith in the Lord of Life. read more

Equal Rights Amendment That Could Overturn Every Pro-Life State Law Nationwide Ratified in Another State

Equal Rights Amendment That Could Overturn Every Pro-Life State Law Nationwide Ratified in Another State

[“Back with a vengeance” – despite a 1982 ratification deadline!  Is there another Phyllis Schlafly out there? – AQ Tom]  MICAIAH BILGER   MAY 31, 2018

The Illinois legislature ratified a dangerous constitutional amendment Wednesday that could overturn every pro-life law in the United States.

According to supporters, the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) would amend the U.S. Constitution to guarantee equal rights for all citizens no matter what their sex is. However, pro-life advocates and conservatives long have warned that abortion activists would use the amendment to destroy the limited protections that America provides to unborn babies.

Illinois became the 37th state to ratify the ERA on Wednesday after a state House vote of 72-45, the AP reports. If just one more state passes the amendment, it could be added to the U.S. Constitution. read more

After Legalizing Abortion, Ireland Now Wants to Ban Praying Outside Abortion Clinics

After Legalizing Abortion, Ireland Now Wants to Ban Praying Outside Abortion Clinics

MICAIAH BILGER   MAY 31, 2018

Less than a week after voting to repeal unborn babies’ rights in Ireland, pro-abortion politicians already are talking about ways to block pro-life advocates from reaching out to women outside abortion facilities.

The Irish Independent reports Health Minister Simon Harris, a strong abortion advocate during the campaign, proposed buffer zones to prohibit protests near future abortion facilities in Ireland.

Harris said the proposal would be included in the abortion legislation that is being considered by parliament. read more

TWO-FRONT WAR AGAINST THE FAITH IN LATIN AMERICA

TWO-FRONT WAR AGAINST THE FAITH IN LATIN AMERICA

The collapse of Catholicism in Latin America

Two-Front War Against the Faith by Bradley Eli, M.Div., Ma.Th.  •  ChurchMilitant.com  •  May 31, 2018

Our Lady of Fatima warned in 1917 that Russia would spread her errors, and these errors are causing the Catholic Church in Latin America to collapse.

Following the apparitions of Our Lady at Guadalupe in 1531, the Catholic Church in Latin America thrived for four hundred years with Catholicism claiming nearly 100 percent of its population. Since 1970, however, these same Catholics have been facing a two-front war fomented by Communist Russia that caused tens of millions of Latin Americans to leave the Church for Pentecostal Christianity. read more

Ahead of China-Vatican dialogue, a five-year plan to Sinicize the Church under the Party

Ahead of China-Vatican dialogue, a five-year plan to Sinicize the Church under the Party

[A new kind of Communist five-year plan – With the connivance of NuVatican/FrankenPope? (“The Holy See appointed about 20 bishops before and after the China-Vatican negotiations resumed in 2014, implying the Holy See reached consensus in the negotiations”) – AQ Tom]

by Wang Zhicheng – 5/30/18

The plan omits specific details. Sinicization launched by Xi Jinping in 2015, demanding an assimilation of Chinese culture, independence from “foreign forces”, leadership of the Communist Party. A new meeting between the Chinese and Vatican delegations at the beginning of June. But few are optimistic. For the Archbishop of Taipei there is no agreement yet. Attention to the “Pastoral Bible”, which re-interprets the Gospel, adapting it to communism. read more

Pope extends term of special envoy to Medjugorje  [Medjugoguery back in the news!] 5/31/18

Editor’s Note: Pope Francis has renewed the mandate of Archbishop Henryk Hoser as apostolic visitor to Medjugorje. The Polish prelate has been asked to supervise pastoral care for the thousands of pilgrims visiting a Franciscan parish in the town where regular appearances of the Virgin Mary have been claimed.

A special Vatican commission investigating the authenticity of the reported apparitions, commissioned in 2010, has completed its work. But the commission’s report has not yet been made public. read more

God Lite, or: a Girlie Religion for a Girlie Culture

God Lite, or: a Girlie Religion for a Girlie Culture

 MAY 16, 2018 – GARY POTTER

The last time I did jury duty I was outside on the courthouse plaza smoking during a break when a young man, a millennial, approached me and asked for a cigarette. I was surprised. Sixty years ago, when I was his age, the majority of adults smoked but millennials generally do not. For as long as they have lived smoking has been illegal in most places and socially unapproved.

My millennial demonstrated he wasn’t accustomed to it when he looked at the cigarette I gave him. “I didn’t know they made cigarettes without filters,” he said. I have no idea what moved the young man to bum one from me but I watched him after he walked away, certain of what he would do next. Sure enough, after a few tentative puffs he dropped the cigarette onto the pavement, crushed it with his foot, and now that he had both hands free to work the device turned his attention to his smartphone and the social media by which, like most persons his age, he stays “connected” to the very many acquaintances he calls “friends.” Those would be other millennials who share his “passions,” including the belief that nothing is more important than “love” and “tolerance” and therefore would never be guilty of uttering the “hate speech” you’ll be hearing from me here. read more

Chaste same-sex attracted Christians: God did not make us gay

Chaste same-sex attracted Christians: God did not make us gay

May 30, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – Chaste same-sex attracted Christians appear universally perplexed — and many are troubled — by Pope Francis’ alleged statement to a gay man, “God made you gay,” and are now speaking out.

[For example:] “This certainly makes it a lot harder for those of us who are same-sex attracted and trying to obey the Church’s timeless teachings to do so–or even feel like we are truly welcome in the new, paradigm-shifting Church.  Belonging to a Church whose leaders don’t even believe in its teachings does seem kind of dumb.” – Thomas Berryman read more

GK Chesterton’s sainthood cause may soon be opened

[AQ TOM: Don’t forget his friend and colleague Hilaire Belloc (see comment below)]

Northampton, England, May 30, 2018 / 12:09 am (CNA/EWTN News).- As an investigation into the life of Catholic apologist G.K. Chesterton nears a close, admirers of the English writer voiced hope that his sainthood cause could soon be opened.

“Chesterton stands up as that saint who contradicts the world in terms of speaking out against a bad philosophy and bad thinking,” said Dale Ahlquist, president of the American Chesterton Society. read more

Welcome To The Hotel Europa…

Welcome To The Hotel Europa…

On Friday, in This is the End of the Euro, I said: The euro has become a cage, a prison for the poorer brethren. The finance minister proposed by 5-Star/Lega and refused by Italian president Mattarella, Paolo Savona, has called the euro a German cage. (Strikingly similar to the “spirit of the new springtime” cage?)

There are now stories spreading that the coalition, Savona first of all, were secretly planning an exit from the euro. A series of slides Savona prepared in 2015 on how to exit the euro is used as evidence of that secret plan. But the slides are not secret. Yes, he has said that it’s good to have a plan to leave ‘if necessary’. (Yes, it is good to have a plan for the Restoration of all things in Christ) But that’s not the same as secretly planning such a move. read more

A Post-Modern Tale Of Two Failed States…

A Post-Modern Tale Of Two Failed States…

Posted by

So by far the biggest story today is that which is happening in Italy.  Even bigger than Roseanne! But I digress…

So it’s Italy week, going into the Feast of Corpus Christi (Corpus Domini for my Italian readers). We continue our coverage of the “government forming” PROCESS.

Drilling down into why Italy is so SIGNIFICANT, I don’t need to tell anyone that if the GLOBALISTS got Francis, the bishop of Rome and Head of State of a foreign country (Vatican State) involved and had him make a phone call to the sitting Italian President in order to subvert the will of the Italian electorate, this SIGNALLING EFFECT speaks for itself. read more

Sodomite Propaganda Destroys Human Dignity – Cardinal Müller

Sodomite Propaganda Destroys Human Dignity – Cardinal Müller

en.news – 5/31/18

Gay propaganda groups “attack all those who do not think their way, they insult, they even destroy the human dignity of people who think differently from them”, said Cardinal Gerhard Müller.

Talking to Catholic News Agency (May 25), Müller explained that the gender ideology comes up with dozens of “genders” while in reality God created only man and woman.

Müller concludes, “No man can identify himself with a category that does not exist in reality.”

Müller explains that the gender folly originates from Marxism which believes that the mind does not recognize reality but rather creates it, “When the Communist party says that 2+2 is 5, everybody must believe it.” read more

Head of Pontifical university Angelicum asks pro-life leaders to protect life and evangelize

ROME, May 30, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – The rector of the Angelicum, site of this year’s Rome Life Forum, urged the international gathering of pro-life leaders to protect life and, in so doing, to evangelize.

Fr. Michal Paluch, who heads the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas — popularly known as the Angelicum — explained why the university is the perfect spot for the distinguished group of Forum participants to meet. The event took place May 17-18.

“As many of you probably know, the most famous and most outstanding student of the Angelicum was Karol Wojtyla, St. John Paul II,” said Paluch.  “If you remember how important it was always for him – the author of the Evangelium Vitae, the cause of the protection of life, we understand that the Angelicum is the right place to start your preparation for the March for Life.” read more

US bishops’ incoming pro-life chair: Abortion tops immigration in public policy debate

May 30, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – Abortion and euthanasia have a “deeper relevance” when it comes to U.S. public policy debate than issues such as poverty and immigration, the U.S. Bishops’ incoming pro-life chair said in an exclusive interview with LifeSiteNews.

“I think with abortion and euthanasia, you’re always dealing with a direct threat to innocent human life,” Archbishop Joseph Naumann of Kansas City said in an interview with LifeSiteNews’ Editor-in-chief and co-founder John-Henry Westen. read more
