Pontifical Commission on Latin American suggests Synod on role of women in the Church

[The Commission also proposed promoting research in Catholic universities on the role of women in the Church as “the era of feminism might be a good liberating occasion” that might “claim the full respect of women’s dignity”! – AQ moderator Tom]

The Pontifical Commission for Latin America has suggested that the Synod of Bishops discuss the role of women in the Church. The commission said that women are often treated with disrespect by a “macho” culture among the clergy in Latin America.

  1. It should read:
“the era of feminism might be a good liberating occasion” that might “claim the full respect of lesbians and other women on the periphery of dignity”

    • A good re-write, to which I would add “dissolute” between “other ” and “women” so that it would read “claim the full respect of lesbians and other dissolute women on the periphery of dignity”. I concede that “dissolute” is redundant because of the presence of “on the periphery of dignity” where such women already reside, but it closes a loophole in “other women”, which could imply all other women and not just dissolute ones such as lesbians and prostitutes.
