Cardinal Burke Again “Persona Non Grata”

en.news – 4/11/18

Cardinal Raymond Burke, the official Patron of the Order of Malta, has again not been invited to the order’s International Lourdes pilgrimage which takes place from May 4 to 8, according to Riposte-Catholique.fr (April 11).

Already last year Cardinal Burke was not invited.

As the order’s patron he would have been the one to celebrate the Sunday Mass for the about 8000 pilgrims.

Pope Francis appointed Burke in 2014 as the patron of the order. Only in 2015 and 2016 he was allowed to celebrate the Sunday Mass for the Lourdes pilgrimage.

In January 2017, Francis removed the head of the order, Fra Matthew Festing. Festing was too Catholic for Francis.

  1. Vindictive political maneuvering and hot headed reactionary snubs by nitwits are not new to serious Catholics, and more especially so in Cd. Burke’s case. I doubt he is particularly bothered.
