[Cardinal Schoenborn takes fellow Austrian Bishop Andreas Laun to task for comparing the blessing of sodomitic relationships to that of the mafia and concentration camps]

From Your Catholic Week in Review – 2/16/18

Cardinal Schoenborn — dean of the Austrian bishops and head of the Austrian bishops conference — took the German bishops to task (and specifically Bishop Andreas Laun) after reports of allowing priests to bless homosexual unions percolated in Catholic media circles.

Schoenborn, viewed as the prime interpreter of Pope Francis’ Amoris Laetitia, was direct and clear:

“It certainly is not acceptable to mention the value of same-sex relationships at the same time as mentioning the mafia or concentration camps, as it now unfortunately has happened,” said Schönborn. “These things are not to be compared. To talk like this is unacceptable.”

What remains problematic among the German-speaking bishops is the lack of clarity regarding the status of homosexual unions, per the LifeSiteNews article:

It is not known that either Cardinal Schönborn or Archbishop Lackner have rejected in principle the idea of blessing homosexual unions as it has been proposed or discussed by Cardinal Marx and Bishop Bode in Germany. However, it is known that Cardinal Schönborn’s own cathedral St. Stephen offered a while ago, in 2016, an article in its bulletin that showed two men and an adopted child, presenting them as a married couple.

The question at this point remains as to whether or not these concerns are truly based in any consideration towards the Magisterium, or whether or not the mask dropped a bit sooner than the apparatchiks within the Velvet Mafia preferred.

One thing is clear though.  The very idea that a same sex union could be ‘blessed’ is the very essence of what it means to call an evil, good.  Our Lord said ‘woe’ to those who said such things.  If our bishops spent more time contemplating the true meaning of the word ‘woe’ (the Wrath of God) than they did on how far they can put God to the test, there wouldn’t be so many poor sols wandering aimlessly, crying “evil, be thou my good!”

Remember that the Holy Spirit does not grant freer allowance to the faithful today than He did in times past.  To state otherwise is a position deeply linked to modernism, and as the bishops of the United States learned, a heretical contradiction.  The very argument of “such are the times” is the very contagion we should react against, just as white blood cells should react to viral illness within the Body of Christ.

  1. [The bishop blinked; Laun capitulates and supinely apologizes]

    Canon212 headline of the report:

“I’m very sorry. Please don’t hurt me”: Salzburg Bishop Laun Apologizes for
Comparing Blessing of Gay Couples to Blessing a Concentration Camp

You may go to the New Ways Ministry website to find and read the report. I do cite or link it, because it is on a heresy-/immorality-advocating website which I try to avoid “for the sake of my mental health”!

  2. Kyrie eleision!
Why can’t we have faithful clergy with virtue like these guys:
