A few drops of rain cannot keep ‘crowd’ away from Francis’ general audience

A few drops of rain cannot keep ‘crowd’ away from Francis’ general audience

Francis set another record low for attendance, this time on Ash Wednesday.

Where are the people?

Even the press corp cannot crop out the lack of people.

‘I can’t wait any longer. Don’t they know my general audience is today?’
All those #EmptySeats — must have been in line for ashes.

Maybe they gave Francis up for Lent?

  1. It would seem to be likely that a significant portion of the Catholic tourists and pilgrims who usually travel to St. Peter’s Square to see and hear a Pope, as in the days of John Paul II and Pope Benedict, would be more orthodox, traditional, and conservative pro-life Catholics who take such things as defense of the traditional Catholic teachings on marriage and divorce seriously. For whatever reason that only his marketing and PR consultants could explain, Bergoglio has gone out of his way to ridicule and alienate those more conservative and orthodox Catholics. Gee, could that have anything to do with the diminishing crowd size at these papal events?

Who here would pay two or three thousand dollars for air travel and hotel costs just to see and listen to Pope Francis? Would that be on your schedule and itinerary for a Rome pilgrimage?

  2. I would rather fight lions 🦁 in the Colosseum, than listen to anything Francis-Bergoglio had to say or anyone else at the Vatican!
