UK Cardinal Reinstates Dissenting LGBTQUEER Group

Cdl. Nichols adds Quest to Catholic Directory [thus, officially recognizing it as a “Catholic” organization]

[Will AmChurch soon do the same for DignityUSA (which “celebrates the wholeness and holiness of LGBTQUEER Catholics”) and/or New Ways Ministry (which has recently been in “dialogue” with bishops such as “conservatives” Chaput and Cordileone) in its Official Catholic Directory? Oh, it already lists the Catholic Association for Lesbian and Gay Ministry (CALGM) and its local diocesan varieties! – AQ moderator Tom]

WESTMINSTER, England (ChurchMilitant) – The archbishop of Westminster is promoting a group opposing Church teaching on homosexuality.

Cardinal Vincent Nichols is reinstating the status of Quest — a group that was removed from the Catholic Directory by his predecessor Cdl. Basil Hume — in the archdiocese of Westminster.

Quest, a self-proclaimed LGBTQUEER Catholic advocacy group, had been in the directory since 1992. Despite the fact Hume was an LGBTQUEER advocate, he had it removed because of its open opposition to Church teaching.

Quest claims, “In the past, the language used by the Church about gays was harsh and judgmental,” even calling the term “objectively disordered” in the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) “less helpful” and admits its “desire for the acceptance of homosexual relationships by the Catholic Church.”

Nichols, however, has advocated LGBTQUEER ideology, supporting same-sex unions in 2001, claiming, “Civil partnerships actually provide a structure in which people of the same sex who want a lifelong relationship [and] a lifelong partnership can find their place and protection and legal provision.”

In 2015, Nichols was the first cardinal to have a Mass for “LGBTQUEER Catholics” and criticized 500 U.K. priests who asked the fathers at the 2015 Synod on the Family to stand up for Church teaching on human sexuality.

Love between two persons, whether of the same or of a different sex, is to be treasured and respected … To love another, whether of the same or a different sex, is to have entered the area of the richest human experience.Tweet
Hume, a through LGBT advocate, commented in 1993 that “people who know themselves to be homosexual must not for that reason develop a sense of guilt or think of themselves as unpleasing to God. On the contrary, they are precious to God.”

He also said in 1994, “Love between two persons, whether of the same or of a different sex, is to be treasured and respected … To love another, whether of the same or a different sex, is to have entered the area of the richest human experience.”

Nichols has been supported by homosexualist advocate and Jesuit priest Fr. James Martin who is supported by his Jesuit superiors and several American prelates.
