Now We Know Why Pope Francis Destroyed the Pontifical Academy for Life: New Appointee Declares Contraception Can Be a Duty

It was always obvious why Pope Francis destroyed John Paul II’s Pontifical Academy for Life by sacking its entire membership of 172 persons, ordering the rewriting of its statutes and abolishing the pro-life oath that members were once required to take.  The plan was to convert the Pontifical Academy for Life into a vehicle for furthering his incredible program, now underway, of attempting to undermine the Church’s teaching on the intrinsic evil of acts contrary to the Sixth Commandment via Amoris Laetita’s (AL) promotion (in Chapter 8) of a form of situation ethics based on “complex circumstances.” That program will now advance, through the reconstituted Pontifical Academy, to an attack on the Church’s teaching on the intrinsic evil of contraception.

We now have proof positive of that intent.  As the indispensable Life Site News reports, a new appointee to the Academy, the so-called moral theologian Father Maurizio Chiodi, declared during a public lecture at the Gregorian on December 14 that there are “circumstances — I refer to Amoris Laetitia, Chapter 8 — that precisely for the sake of responsibility, require contraception.” Chiodi went on to state that when “natural methods are impossible or unfeasible, other forms of responsibility need to be found” and that “an artificial method for the regulation of births could be recognized as an act of responsibility that is carried out, not in order to radically reject the gift of a child, but because in those situations responsibility calls the couple and the family to other forms of welcome and hospitality.”

So, we are now informed by the Pope’s man at the Pontifical Academy for “Life” that a key element of what John Paul II called “the culture of death” is not only permissible but even obligatory when obedience to the Sixth Commandment, and indeed the Fifth Commandment (for contraceptives are often abortifacient in their effects), is “impossible or unfeasible.” That evil notion, of course, would mean the end of all morality.  To quote Professor Josef Siefert in this regard, Chiodi, with AL as his sole authority, would “place subjective responsibility over objective moral situations,” which error is “destructive not only of the moral teaching of the Catholic Church, but also of the essence of morality, and in fact, of any truth and any Church Teaching.”

Exactly so.  And, at the same time, a not-so-secret four-man commission is “studying” Humane Vitae as its 50th anniversary approaches. There is little doubt that this commission will lend its support to Chiodi’s heretical thesis.  After all, Francis himself has already declared, in remarks whose intent was confirmed by the Vatican, that contraception is justified as “a lesser evil” to limit the spread of the Zika virus. The opinion that one may commit a “lesser evil” in order to avoid a supposedly greater one contradicts the moral law at its very foundation.

What more proof do the “normalists” need that nothing is normal about this pontificate, but rather that it represents an apocalyptic development in the history of the Church, perhaps exceeding even the Arian crisis of the 4th century in magnitude?  This apostolate, however, will continue to report the truth about our situation, even as we await with hope its glorious resolution through the intervention of the Virgin Mother of God — in just the way She prophesied at Fatima.

  1. I wish someone could explain with cogency to me how Francis’ diabolical disorientation, in light of this article and other ‘frankenpope’ articles and bleepery are incompatible.

On one hand you have centuries of Popes who say to be Catholic one must follow the Pope (boiled down and in a nutshell of course) and on the other hand you have a man who with every word and action loudly proclaims the devil’s agenda, and yet we’re to believe he’s Christ’s Vicar on earth? That’s a little nuts. If centuries of Papal teaching on the Papacy is correct, how can we be Catholic if we recognize the beast as Pope, yet refuse to follow his every dictat? Doesnt that destroy the Catholic teaching on the Papacy? Isnt that protestantism?

I have problems with sedevacantism. It’s a mystery how the Church would recover from a hierarchy which ceased to be Catholic generations ago— the beast is the first elected who was ordained in the new order of rites.

But mystery is more compatible with Catholicism than is the heresy paraded as the Faith.

I’m tempted to just throw in the towel. Stay home and read my Missal on Sundays and Holy Days. This whole thing is lunacy.

    • I hear ya, quo.
“I’m tempted to just throw in the towel. Stay home and read my Missal on Sundays and Holy Days. This whole thing is lunacy.”

Problem: Satan then wins. But you’ve hit the nail on the head. It’s exactly the goal of the Modernists-destroyers: pervert the truth and drive out every last opposition to the truth. This has happened consistently, everywhere since the Council. Even the “conservative” types: Wojtyla, Ratzinger, Burke, etc. You can even have the Latin Mass, but if you get uppity and buck against the evil Council or the evil Assisi or Koran-kissing, or faggot seminarians, or “mercy” for obstinate 6th-Commandment violators, you’re stepped on. We can only hope that this time, Papa Satana (per: “Vade post me Satana”) has overplayed his hand and enough folks wake up to see: that narrow path, the one drawn by Our Lord and walked by St. Peter’s successors, is not the chalk line we’ve been led down since the 60’s.

But no. This problem can be solved by the only one who can help us now, as she said at Fatima: Our Lady.

  2. Don’t throw in the towel, guys, that’s exactly what Lucifer wants. It’s up to us to carry on the fight for our kids, grandkids and those who may come after them not to mention what I believe Our Lord and Savior expects.
