Cardinal O’Malley wins: Massachusetts will keep funding abortions

Remember how helpful the former USCCCP Pro-Life Chairman was in the petition drive to stop taxpayer-funded abortions?
Catholic Bishops Ban Signature Drives–Pro-Life Campaign in Jeopardy

Here an email just received, entitled Our Deepest Thanks:

Dear Pro-life friend:

I am sorry to inform you that, despite our best efforts, we have come up short in the number of certified signatures required to advance our petition to amend the state constitution to take the initial step to stop taxpayer-funded abortions in Massachusetts.

We needed to collect 64,750 certified signatures and the Secretary of State’s office reported that we collected 57,396. Thus we were 7,354 signatures short.

This was disappointing, but we all should be encouraged by the great progress that was made. Thanks to the hard work of you, our dedicated volunteers, we collected almost twice as many signatures in 2017 as we did in 2015.

And in every other area, we have progressed from 2015. This year we had more publicity, more signs, more donations and, most importantly, more active volunteers.

We are seeking to end taxpayer funded abortions, but our ultimate goal is to save the lives of unborn babies. And that issue is too important for us to give up the fight. Accordingly, with your valuable assistance, we intend to begin another signature campaign in the fall of 2019.

Thank you for all of your help in this campaign. I appreciate so much all that you have done. And I hope that I can count on your continued dedication to the pro-life cause in 2019. With perseverance, we will succeed!

God bless you all.

Tom Harvey

PS: On a more positive note, the state legislature has one more pro-life vote with the special election of Dean Tran to the state senate last night. We want to thank those of you who volunteered for Tran, adding to the number of pro-life voices in the State House.
