New Scandal in the Vatican

[Possibly related to the firing earlier this year of the Holy See’s auditor general, Libero Milone, who was accused by the Vatican of spying on senior officials, but who accused the Vatican of getting rid of him, because his investigations into possible illegal activity hit too close to home. – Vatican bank deputy sacked for ‘unknown reasons’]

The deputy director general of the Vatican Bank, Giulio Mattietti, was fired on November 27 and even escorted out of the Vatican.

No reasons have been given for this harsh measure. Another employee of the bank suffered the same fate. Mattietti is doctor in physics and a programmer. He worked for the bank since 1997.

The pro-Francis media presented his nomination as a deputy director general in November 2015 “as an internal solution in order to relaunch the bank.”
