Swiss Planned Parenthood president invited to speak at Vatican

November 18, 2017 ( – The Vatican’s Pontifical Academy for Life co-hosted a conference on the topic of end of life issues that included several speakers who oppose the Catholic Church’s teachings on the right to life, including the president the board of Switzerland’s Planned Parenthood affiliate, and the president of the pro-euthanasia Royal Dutch Medical Association.

The conference, entitled the “WMA European Region Meeting on End-of-Life Questions,” was jointly organized by the World Medical Association, which officially opposes euthanasia, the German Medical Association, and the Pontifical Academy for Life. It was held in the Aula vecchia del Sinodo in the Vatican from November 16 to 17.

According to the World Medical Association, the conference was to“gather leading European medical professionals, legal authorities, experts in palliative care and medical ethics, theological scholars and philosophers to debate the different policies on these issues, to explore patient rights and treatment limitations, and to better understand public opinion regarding end-of-life questions.”

Pope Francis has sent a message to the conference participants, reiterating the Catholic Church’s condemnation of euthanasia by stating that euthanasia “is always wrong, in that the intent of euthanasia is to end life and cause death.”

However, the pope added that “to determine whether a clinically appropriate medical intervention is actually proportionate, the mechanical application of a general rule is not sufficient. There needs to be a careful discernment of the moral object, the attending circumstances, and the intentions of those involved.” He made no mention of the withholding of food and fluids, which are often characterized as forms of medical treatment that can be withdrawn.

Dr. Yvonne Gilli, a gynecologist and Green Party politician who leads the governing board of the International Planned Parenthood Federation’s “Sexual Health Switzerland” (Santé Sexuelle Suisse), is scheduled to contribute to two panel discussions at the conference, one on “Setting the stage: Three perspectives on end-of-life questions,” and another on the topic, “Is there a need to change policy?” Gilli will be attending as a board member of the Swiss Medical Association.

Santé Sexualle Suisse is listed by the International Planned Parenthood Federation as a member, noting that it “is the umbrella organisation of the Swiss centers for sexual and reproductive health and the professional associations active in the areas education and counselling on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).”

Santé Sexuelle Suisse says that it counsels women on how to obtain abortions and promotes the use of artificial birth control, both practices regarded as mortal sins by the Catholic Church.

Also included in the lineup of speakers is René Héman, a euthanasia advocate who leads the pro-euthanasia Royal Dutch Medical Association, and Ralf Jox, a professor at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich who has publicly proposed the legalization of “responsible assisted suicide” as a way to “protect life.”

Although the Pontifical Academy for Life (PAL) appears to have never publicly announced the event on its webpage, information about the event, including a link to a tentative program, appears on a website that advertises conferences, Cvent.

The appearance of anti-life speakers at Vatican events, particularly those associated with the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, has become common under the papacy of Francis.

However, Pope Francis’ actions have sent mixed signals some which suggest he does not intend to back away from the Catholic Church’s doctrines on euthanasia.

Under his leadership, Vatican officials have insisted that the Belgian Brothers of Charity, a Catholic religious order, must cease to kill terminally ill patients in their hospital, despite strong resistance from Belgian society.

  1. Appropriating a well-known quote by Pope Paul VI, headlines its version of this story as “The Foetid Smoke of Abortion Satan Has Entered the Vatican

  2. [Another appropriation of Paul VI’s smoke-of-satan quote applied not only to the above-mentioned Vatican conference but also to the recent Vatican Conference on “Health Of People, Health Of Planet, And Our Responsibility: Climate Change, Air Pollution And Heath” as well as the recent USCCCP fall meeting]

Conferences For Immorality Within The Church

Imagine, if you will, a conference of progressive big-wigs brainstorming and scheming together on how to hoodwink people that climate-change junk-science is a fact. One of those attendees is none other than California Governor Jerry “Moonbeam” Brown. He says outright that in order for people to swallow the climate change yarn, and I quote, “we need a total, I might say, brainwashing”.

Then another participant at that seedy gathering tells his accomplices that the world’s population needs to be “culled” as a first step to addressing climate change. One of the other attendees, Bishop Marcelo Sanchez Sorondo (we’ve seen his name before) agreed with him, going so far as to claim “the Catechism of the Catholic Church says that we have to regulate the population” as he advocated making contraceptives available to Africans. Can anyone point to the citation in the Catechism that advocates that? I didn’t think so!

So there you have some of the sinister bile pouring forth from this hypothetical pit of snakes hissing together as they strategize how to ensconce the culture of death more firmly within this world. It seems like it would have Soros’ paw prints all over it, wouldn’t it? There is just one problem. This scenario is not hypothetical. What I just described is a Vatican conference entitled “Health Of People, Health Of Planet, And Our Responsibility: Climate Change, Air Pollution And Heath”. Now isn’t that a mouthful? It was sponsored by the Pontifical Academy Of (Junk) Sciences and took place November 2-4.

Not to be outdone by their counterparts, the Pontifical Academy for Life conducted its own pro-death apologetic session. They called theirs’ the “WMA European Region Meeting On End-Of-Life Questions”. Attendees and speakers included two proponents of “assisted suicide” and Dr. Yvonne Gilli, head of International Planned Parenthood’s Switzerland affiliate. While the pope stated that Church teaching on assisted suicide would not change (as though that were a valid possibility), one of the questions considered by this bunch was “is there a need to change policy?” So a director of a Planned Parenthood affiliate was invited by this “academy for life”. I wonder when they’ll extend an invitation to Leroy Carhart to deliver some of his remarks?

These two pow-wows, along with the USCCB meeting in Baltimore last week, make evident that not only has satan’s smoke found its way through some cracks in the Vatican wall, but the smoke is billowing in, polluting all that is holy. Please be praying for Holy Mother Church. Study your Faith well and defend it.
