Scholar: only 1/6 of Catholics in 2050 will be European

[What will the other 5/6/s be: Non-believers such as agnostics/atheists and/or non-believers such as Muzzies?]

Catholic World News – 11/13/17

Baylor University’s Philip Jenkins predicts that in 2050, 40% of Catholics will live in Latin America and 25% in Africa. He adds, “A southward-looking Church may be a vibrant and flourishing body, but it might pose some challenges for Catholics of the older Euro-American world.”

  1. “trouble ALERT” !!! Whenever people start throwing around the “v” word (vibrant) you know you’re in for some B.S. about how great all these changes are going to be. [see post below about the “vibrant” (read dying) Pittsburgh diocese that going to be saved by all the charis-maniacs. Sure, European Catholicism will be dead – no more rosaries, cathedrals, Mary shrines, and all that medieval stuff. We’ll get Latin American liberation theology (a la Francis) and syncretistic worship blending Asian religions with liturgy. Oh well, one bright spot – maybe those African clergy such as Cardinal Sarah that the German bishops and other sophisticates ignore will have some clout.
