Anglican Bishopess Troubled about the Gender of the Deity and of Her Title

[How many Catholic bishops have the same problem with one or the other (or both)? Donald Wuerl, the Cardinal Archbishop of Washington, DC, might be an example: To be addressed in Rome (in addition to “Eminenza”) as “Il Signore Cardinale (The Lord Cardinal)” or “La Donna Cardinale”?]

Rachel Trewood, the Anglican Bishopess of Gloucester has claimed that God should not be referred to as either ‘He’ or ‘She’ insisting that God is – quote – “gender-neutral”. Christ however referred to God as “Father” not as “it”. Mrs Trewood further sent back the “writ of summons” as the first bishopess in the British House of Lords because it called her “right reverend father in God”. The writ was changed to “right reverend mother in God” which Trewood also refused claiming that “mother” had – quote – “a sense of dependency for me”. Trewood wants to be seen as a “leader”.
