Francis Advances the Optionalization of Priestly Celibacy in the Latin Rite

Pope Francis has placed a request to allow for married Brazilian priests on the agenda of a forthcoming Synod on the Amazon region, Vatican sources told Il Messaggero. From the beginning it was clear that the Amazon Synod is only a pretext.

With the usual single-case tactic Francis took the decision to put a “partial lifting” of priestly celibacy up for discussion and a possible vote by Brazilian bishops. It followed a request by Modernist Cardinal Claudio Hummes who asked Francis to consider ordaining married men.

This means that Francis will again prefer an unthought change of external structures to a true reform of the Church.

  1. The celibacy of the Incarnate Word and the stupendous ontological nature of Orders are the only two explanations required to stop such utterly stupid liberal “demands” cold.

While true practically, arguments defining the conflicts of interest inherent in the pro-married clergy movement remain secondary issues.

  2. The East, which regularly is used as ammo against Roman Rite celibacy, has ALWAYS been a high maintenance region.

It still has its share of incredible, true Saints from its clergy and religious history but I am aware of not one who was not celibate.

As for the Eastern autocephalous schismatics, Pope St Pius X made plain that they were heretics as well as in schism.
