A million Polish Catholics pray at borders ‘to save country’

According to the source of the photos, Matt_DZ_PL, “The prayer turned out to be more successful than anybody could possibly expected. The news given by some EU media, then requoted in other media, regarding the turnout are simply pathetic. In Poland, even the most radical leftist circles estimate the turnout for 1-2 million participants, let alone those who prayed at home.”]

Thousands of Polish Catholics formed human chains on the country’s borders Saturday, begging God “to save Poland and the world” in an event many viewed as a spiritual weapon against the “Islamisation” of Europe.

Reciting “Rosary to the Borders”, they called to be protected from the dangers facing them. The episcopate insisted that it was a purely religious initiative.

The goal was to have as many prayer points as possible along Poland’s 3,511-kilometre (2,200-mile) border with Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania, Russia and the Baltic Sea.

Fishing boats joined the event on the sea, while kayaks and sailboats formed chains on Polish rivers, local media said.

During a mass, broadcast live by the ultra-Catholic Radio Maryja, Krakow archbishop Marek Jedraszewski called on believers to pray “for the other European nations to make them understand it is necessary to return to Christian roots so that Europe would remain Europe.”

Nationalist Catholic activist Marcin Dybowski told AFP before the event that “a religious war between Christianity and Islam is once again underway in Europe, just like in the past.”

“Poland is in danger. We need to shield our families, our homes, our country from all kinds of threats, including the de-Christianisation of our society, which the EU’s liberals want to impose on us,” he said.

  1. I can’t corroborate the million figure. Anybody familiar with European sources?

    For more photos, see www.breitbart.com/london/2017/10/08/thousands-poles-pray-border-islamisation-europe/

  2. “A million or more” or “hundreds of thousands” of people participating in a Rosary crusade is a non-event for the neo-Catholic versions of Pravda and Izvestia (the USCCCP’s Catholic News Service and EEEWTN’s Catholic News Agency).

    • And also Catholic Culture’s Catholic World News (distinguished from Ignatius Press’ Catholic World Report, which gets its news feed through EEEWTN’s Catholic News Agency), which could now be considered a neo-Catholic version of People’s World News.

      • The above comment was scrubbed, because Catholic World News finally posted a notice of the Polish Rosary crusade – 5 hours after the above was posted, and more than 24 hours after the event:

One million Poles join in Rosary for nation

        Catholic World News – October 09, 2017

An estimated one million people joined in praying the Rosary at various spots on Poland’s border on October 7, the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary.

In the massive Rosary rally, organized by lay Catholics and endorsed by 22 Polish dioceses, the faithful gathered at 4,000 locations along the border to pray. The event was organized as a campaign of prayer for Poland and for the world. The country’s prime minister, Beata Szydlo, sent a message of support.

Organizers emphasized that the “Rosary at the Borders” was intended as a positive event, not a protest. But secular analysts saw it as a reaction against Muslim immigration. Poland has resisted the flood of immigrants from Islamic countries. The Rosary event was held on the anniversary of the Battle of Lepanto, a decisive victory that preserved Western Europe from a Muslim onslaught in 1571.

Someone at Catholic World News must be closely reading AQ, including comments on comments.

The people at the Canon212 and Pewsitter aggregators “pick up” items from AQ – either “original” ones (for which the link on the aggregator is directly to AQ) or ones from other sites copied and posted on AQ, because the headlines for some such items are slightly changed on the AQ posting and are copied on the aggregator’s site with the changed headline but are linked to the original source (not AQ).

    • Kudos to the New Oxford Review, which headlines and links to the British Catholic Herald’s report “Hundreds of thousands pray rosary at Polish border.”

    • I was astonished that EWTN didn’t cover this, but I did a search of their news website and – sure enough – no mention. Guess all those rosaries Mother Angelica prayed (and are replayed continuously on the network) are regard by those in charge as filler to get the donation stream up! However EWTNews had these headlines: “For global ‘peripheries,’ poverty can lead to online exploitation” and “Migration, Reformation center of Pope’s meeting with German president”

    • Catholic News Agency was scrubbed from the above comment, because the Agency published an article about the Polish Rosary crusade on 10/9/17 in its blog (not news) section: Thousands gather to pray rosary at Poland’s borders.

  3. THIS is the single most encouraging news item I’ve read in a long time. Poland shows the world how to be Catholic. I love those people. (Besides, my wife is 50% Polish.)

To everyone in eyeshot of this, understand and do likewise:

    Pray the Rosary Every Day!
