Faith In Climate Change

Faith In Climate Change

[This reminds me of “The first effect of not believing in God is to believe in anything” – a quotation attributed to G.K. Chesterton but actually an explication by Émile Cammaerts of a quote by Chesterton’s Fr. Brown character: “It’s the first effect of not believing in God that you lose your common sense”]

In the plane returning from Colombia, Pope Francis stated forcefully his faith in climate change during an encounter with journalists. Quote, “Ask climate scholars and you will see that they say that the warming of the planet is to blame on men. Men are stupid.” The Italian Vaticanista Aldo Maria Valli went on and asked 17 scholars. His conclusion, “As hard as one may try, one does not find two scholar who agree with each other.” Valli concludes, “I do not know to which scientists Francis is referring.”

  1. “Ask climate scholars and you will see that they say that the warming of the planet is to blame on men. Men are stupid.”

Absolutely, men are stupid. And this is among the very few intelligent (and intelligible!) things this pope has ever said.
Now, if he could only learn to become actually intelligent himself.
For what could be more stupid than to blindly the trust the mere opinions of the scientistic “community” — or any other mere human beings or group of human beings?
