A priest who visited Cardinal Carlo Caffarra recently said that Caffarra started crying in front of him because of the disastrous state of the Church, writes the Vaticanista Antonio Socci. Caffarra, a former archbishop of Bologna, Italy, and one of the four Dubia cardinals, died on September 6th.

The priest relates, that Caffarra “was very sorrowful, but he transmitted to me so much courage and love for the Church.” Socci believes that Caffarra died from heartbreak.

  1. Killed by progressive modernism and the Bergoglian version of the Spirit of Vatican II? He wouldn’t be the first to have years of his life taken by grief from modernism, clerical apostasy, and Vatican II.

  2. But…Meisner, and then Caffara is such quick succession?
    I wouldn’t rule out murder.
Obviously, the usual Liberal crackpots will say such speculation is just the usual right wing crackpottery. The problem is the usual lack of reasons that Liberal crackpots have for their contentions.
I’ve done a good bit of looking around, and nowhere see any information as to the *cause* of death of either of these men. Sure, there are some vague references to “old age”, but old age is never the *immediate* cause of death; death certificates always list the immediate cause, e.g. cardiac arrest, stroke, etc.
Cardinal Ratzinger’s funeral oration mentions that he had spoken to Meisner the day before he died, that he “could not believe at first” that he was gone, because he found him to be cheerful. See rorate-caeli.blogspot.com/2017/07/benedict-xvi-francis-capsizing-boat.html
Cardinal Muller spoke to him on the phone the evening before he died, and reported that Meisner had said that he felt healthy, although he was very concerned about the situation in the Church. See onepeterfive.com/just-before-death-cardinal-meisner-spoke-to-cardinal-muller-of-distress-over-his-dismissal/
Meisner’s wiki article gives no cause of death.
As to Caffarra, his wiki article says that he died “after a long illness”, but the nature of that illness is not mentioned.
