On July 30, the Jesuit Province d’Europe Occidentale Francophone has been founded. It comprises 532 Jesuits (of which 40 are in formation) who live in 42 communities in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Greece and Mauritius Island. The prestigious separate province of France is thus dissolved. This is the consequence of the lack of new members. Like all liberal religious communities, the Jesuits fail to attract vocations.
