Update: The suspect was killed in a shootout with police. He has been identified as James Hodgkinson, a 66-year-old Bernie Sanders supporter and volunteer who lamented Trump’s presidency. He “liked” a number of leftist Facebook pages, including the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).

“It’s Time to Destroy Trump & Co,” Hodgkinson had posted on Facebook.

Scalise is in critical condition at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. Trump has just arrived there.

ALEXANDRIA, Virginia, June 14, 2017 (LifeSiteNews) – Pro-life Majority Whip Rep. Steve Scalise, R-LA, was shot this morning in what other members of Congress are saying was an attack because of his beliefs.

Scalise was shot at a congressional baseball practice. At least one staffer was also shot, as were two members of the Capitol Police. Various media are reporting Scalise is in stable condition. No one has been reported killed. The gunman is apparently in police custody.

Rep. Mark Walker, R-NC, told NBC that it seemed the gunman “was there to kill as many Republican members as possible.”

Rep. Ron DeSantis, R-FL, told FOX News: “There was a guy that walked up to us that was asking whether it was Republicans or Democrats out there, and it was just a little odd.”

Police on the scene are calling the shooting a “deliberate attack.”

The shooting comes just days after the “assassination” of a Julius Caesar resembling President Trump in a publicly-funded play. It comes several weeks after D-list comedian Kathy Griffin held up a bloody effigy of a beheaded Trump.

Scalise’s office released a statement saying he is undergoing surgery.

Students for Life of America posted on Facebook an image of Scalise speaking at one of their rallies, saying they are offering prayers for him.

Other pro-life groups expressed their prayers and concern for Scalise and the others shot.

President Trump called Scalise a “true friend and patriot.”

Rep. Scalise is well-known for his pro-life views.

“As House Majority Whip, he has been involved in plans to defund abortion giant Planned Parenthood,” reported Live Action.

“His plan was to use the reconciliation process to strip taxpayer dollars from Planned Parenthood — under scrutiny for corruption, rising abortions, and the return of minors to their sexual abusers. Federal taxpayer dollars would be redirected to comprehensive health care clinics around the nation that do not commit abortions but outnumber Planned Parenthood by the thousands,” the group reported.

  1. Bishops pray for Catholic Congressman shot at baseball practice

    CNA Daily News News Briefs

Washington D.C., Jun 14, 2017 / (CNA/EWTN News).- Republican House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, 51, was among multiple persons shot in an incident at a Congressional baseball practice in Alexandria, Virginia, Wednesday morning.

Scalise, a Catholic, was shot at the hip and was transported to surgery. He is reportedly in stable condition.

“Prior to entering surgery, the Whip was in good spirits and spoke to his wife by phone,” Scalise’s office said in a statement. “He is grateful for the brave actions of U.S. Capitol Police, first responders, and colleagues.”

After hearing about the shooting, House Democrats at a separate baseball practice started a spontaneous prayer for the victims.

A total of five people were “medically transported” from the scene, according to authorities.

Shots were fired around 7:15 a.m. Wednesday morning while Republican lawmakers were practicing for Thursday’s Congressional Baseball Game.

U.S. Capitol Police shot and apprehended the gunman, who was taken to the hospital. Alexandria Police tweeted that the “suspect is in custody and not a threat.”

Congressman Scalise is a Republican who was elected to represent Louisiana in 2008. Before running for Congress, he had served in the Louisiana state senate for four months and in the Louisiana House of Representatives for 12 years.

He is married to the former Jennifer Letulle and they have an 8 year-old daughter, Madison Carol and an 8 year-old, Harrison Joseph.

Scalise is a life-long Catholic. He and his wife are members of the St. Agnes Catholic Church. Two years ago he tweeted a photo of his daughter’s first communion.

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, which started its Spring General Assembly this morning in Indianapolis, opened their conference with a prayer for the victims of the shooting as well as the victims of a massive apartment fire in London last night. USCCB Vice President Archbishop Jose Gomez gave the prayer, which was also posted to Twitter.

Roughly 15-25 people were at the practice, including Sens. Rand Paul, R-Ky., and Jeff Flake, R-Ariz. Paul told MSNBC that “it would have been a massacre” if Capitol Police weren’t there.

HuffPost Spikes Article Demanding Execution of Trump and His Collaborators

    By Tim Graham | June 14, 2017

The Huffington Post — home of some notably hateful rants, like the ex-Washington Post writer who said unlike George W. Bush, “You could argue that even the world’s worst fascist dictators at least meant well” — has a line contributors can cross. On Sunday night, it was the notion of executing President Trump for treason…and a cast of accessories including Steve Bannon, Kellyanne Fitzpatrick, the Vice President, the Senate Majority Leader, and the Speaker of the House!

The unhinged HuffPost contributor was Jason Fuller, who proclaims he opposes “extremism” in politics: “I live in a small American town and work a low-wage job. I have seen the best and worst in society and in America and am constantly speaking out to try and bring about change. Many of my tweets and blogs are critical of what I see as erosions of civil liberties and freedom, as well as bullying and extremism.” Now it only says “This post from The Huffington Post Contributor Platform is no longer available on our site,” but his screed was cached:

Impeachment Is No Longer Enough; Donald Trump Must Face Justice

Impeachment and removal from office are only the first steps; for America to be redeemed, Donald Trump must be prosecuted for treason and — if convicted in a court of law — executed.

Fuller didn’t exactly need the strongest evidence:

There is very little doubt left that Trump and his team colluded with members of the Russian government to try and rig the election in his favor, even if the Russians did not outright hack the voting process itself; while we may not yet have 100% incontrovertible proof of their collusion, the administration’s attempts to hide previous contacts with the Russians, their willingness to blatantly lie about their communications, and the contents of Trump’s meetings with former FBI director Comey are all incriminating on their own.

    Proclaiming war on ISIS? Also treasonous;

That Trump fails to recognize how much he is assisting ISIS with his rhetoric — or simply does not care — is a subject for debate, but it is a fact which he cannot dispute. By choosing to ignore this fact, he is aiding the greatest foreign adversary in the modern world and therefore committing another act of treason.

Then Fuller gets to the execution of the accessories:

This same argument also applies to top-ranking White House and Republican aides, including — but likely not limited to — Steve Bannon, Kellyanne Conway, Mitch McConnell, Paul Ryan, and Vice President Pence. While they may not be participating quite as directly as Trump himself, the fact that they support his agenda and are helping to protect him means that they are accessories and are thus also committing acts of treason. All must face justice.

Much has been made of the possibility of impeaching Trump, but this will not happen as long as Republicans maintain control of Congress. However, Trump’s impeachment and removal from office are no longer enough….

Draining the swamp means not only ejecting Trump from the presidency, but also bringing himself and everyone assisting in his agenda up on charges of treason. They must be convicted (there is little room to doubt their guilt). And then — upon receiving guilty verdicts — they must all be executed under the law. Anything less than capital punishment — or at least life imprisonment without parole in a maximum security detention facility — would send yet another message to the world that America has lost its moral compass.

The real question at this point: is HuffPost going to keep publishing this wacko?

    • is HuffPost going to keep publishing this wacko?

Except he’s not a wacko. He’s a perfectly conditioned demoncrat robot. Sure, his elevator doesn’t go to the top floor, but useful idiots like him are the targets of the MSM/DNC narrative machine (includes NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, WaPo, Google/OFA, Fakebook, and more). Recall that the Clinton campaign / DNC hired folks like Fuller to cause mayhem at Trump rallies, even inciting violence.

The Left is, or has become, exactly what they despised in the Church they’ve been attempting to destroy over the ages. They charge us with being mindless authoritarians deceiving the poor and keeping them poor, causing wars, etc. The Left is a religion, and their leader is Satan.

    Boris: Kill Moose and Squirrel!

Fearless Leader: No, Badenov! New target is Republican Party. NEA-trained Alinskyite useful idiots need post-hypnotic suggestions!

Natasha: How devious, Fearless Leader. I love that in a man.

Boris: We have plan. First, MSM blames Trump for Hodgkinson. Next, have Alinskyite MSM/DNC squads promote violence. Then spend advertising budget to prime more zombies: Prozac, Paxil, Cymbalta, Zoloft, Lexapro, Abilify, Xanax, Deplin, risperidone, Symbyax, Celexa, Elavil, Luvox, and Sarafem.

Fearless Leader: Brilliant, Badenov. But what is that last one … Seraphim?
