Pope pleads for legally anchored women’s quotas

Francis at the General Assembly of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue – women should be more active in all areas of society, both regionally and internationally

[Does that include quotas (50%?) for women in the College of Cardinals as well as the priesthood and episcopacy? Hat-tip to PewSitter]

Pope Francis has expressed his strong support for the participation of women in all spheres of society. This right should be secured by legal means if necessary, he said on Friday before the Plenary Assembly of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue. Women should be more active in all areas of society, both regionally and internationally. According to the Vatican Radio, Francis broke indirectly a lance for women’s quotes and noted that a growing presence of women would also be a “healing process” in the Church. The Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue held until Friday its General Assembly in Rome on the subject of women and peace education.

  1. I have an idea.
Why don’t we do a worldwide poll of women; I mean a really representative poll of women from all kinds of countries, and all walks of life, with each country being weighted according to what percent of world population it contains, and walks of life being weighted according to the actual numbers of women in those walks of life.
Now assuming that “being more active in all areas of society” means having more influence on how society is run, why don’t we ASK them if that’s what they really want?

Oh, that’s right. ‘Cause if we did, they might actually say No, and that would not fit our masculinist agenda at all.
So sorry. I really do need to stop caring what people think and want; need to learn how to just ram my own opinions down everyone’s throat; need to learn how to be more like our fearless leader, the Dictator in White.
But then I seem to recall someone saying…
“Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom”
