It is often said that we must be kind to those with whom we disagree and that is true to an extent. But how far does that approach take us in dealing with the apostasizers in today’s new-church? In considering this question it seems appropriate to see how Our Lord dealt with those who challenged both His Authority and His claim to be the Son of God in His interaction with the Jews.
Yesterday’s gospel for the Fourth Sunday in Lent (St. John, Chap 8, 46-59) is one of the most important in all Scripture and that is probably why it is most often ignored by the modernists and I include in that category the priests, bishops and cardinals of the new-church, the robber-barons who have stolen our faith, the faith of our fathers, and imposed on us false doctrines and dogmas. I should begin first by saying to the critics that St. John was an eyewitness to this confrontation between Jesus and the Pharisees and his words are true as he himself proclaimed. John 21, “This is that disciple who giveth testimony of these things, and hath written these things; and we know that his testimony is true.”
Let us set the context, therefore, of what follows: I know that you are the children of Abraham: but you seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you. I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and you do the things that you have seen with your father. They answered, and said to him: Abraham is our father. Jesus saith to them: If you be the children of Abraham, do the works of Abraham. But now you seek to kill me, a man who have spoken the truth to you, which I have heard of God. Jesus immediately cuts to the quick, so-to-speak, and exposes the hypocrisy of the pharisaic Jews who seek to drive a wedge between Jesus and Abraham and, more than that, seek to kill Jesus. Jesus rightly discloses their hypocrisy by saying: “This Abraham did not.” Do you see any correlation to what is happening in today’s modernist new-church?
41] You do the works of your father. They said therefore to him: We are not born of fornication: we have one Father, even God. Jesus therefore said to them: If God were your Father, you would indeed love me Aha! Another hypocrisy exposed for instead of loving Him they seek to kill Him. Is there hypocrisy in today’s new-church? The answer is yours to ponder.
Why do you not know my speech? Because you cannot hear my word. You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and he stood not in the truth; because truth is not in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father thereof. But if I say the truth, you believe me not. Here is the crux of the matter – who speaks the truth and it is clear that the Devil speaks not the truth and is the “father of lies” and the Pharisees follow him. What an extraordinary indictment! Jesus has indeed, as they say, gone straight to the jugular.
46] Which of you shall convict me of sin? If I say the truth to you, why do you not believe me? He that is of God, heareth the words of God. Therefore you hear them not, because you are not of God. Whoa! “You are not of God” says Our Lord. There it is, folks, the ultimate indictment of the Pharisaic-Jews and the followers of Satan. How many are those today who fit this category and still call themselves Catholic? Even those who wear the robes and symbols of authority in the Church but who deny Our Lord’s words and His teachings as contained in the magisterium of over two thousand years. Incredible!
Jesus answered: If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father that glorifieth me, of whom you say that he is your God. And you have not known him, but I know him. And if I shall say that I know him not, I shall be like to you, a liar. But I do know him, and do keep his word. His final words to his critics are chilling to anyone who aspires to eternal life but it seems there are those who aspire to a different End and that is the most jaw-dropping conclusion of all.
