Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia, the new head of the Pontifical Academy for Life recently gave remarks expressing unqualified admiration for longtime friend Marco Pannella, one of Italy’s most radical proponents of the culture of death.
Speaking about the Italian Radical Party founder, Paglia stated that he was “a man of great spirituality” and that his death was “a great loss, not only for the people of the Radical Party, but also for our country,” among many other glowing statements.
Pannella spent his life fighting for the legalization and promotion of abortion, same-sex ‘marriage,’ and euthanasia in Italy, and was himself an openly bisexual man who boasted of his affairs.
Archbishop Paglia, who was also appointed by Pope Francis to head up the Pontifical Pope John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family, is the same archbishop responsible for developing and releasing the Vatican’s new sex-ed program, which, among numerous other grave flaws, includes pornographic images.
Adding to concerns about the archbishop are the recent revelations that he was responsible for commissioning an enormous “homoerotic” mural at the cathedral church of the Diocese of Terni-Narni-Amelia.
We are asking Archbishop Paglia to resign, and, if he refuses, that he be removed from his positions as head of the Pontifical Academy for Life and the Pontifical Pope John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family.

To: Pope Francis and Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia
We demand the resignation of Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia from his role as President of the Pontifical Academy for Life and the Chancellor of the John Paul II Institute.
We have witnessed with dismay statements made by Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia on the Radical Party leader Marco Pannella. And we are also disturbed by his role in commissioning a large “homoerotic” mural in the cathedral church of the Diocese of Terni-Narni-Amelia, and in the highly problematic Vatican sex-ed curriculum.
Claiming that Panella “has spent her life in particular for the last”, who fought “for the defense of the dignity of all” is simply false. Hoping the spirit of “Marco still alive inspiring a more beautiful life not only for Italy, (but) for our world” concerns us deeply.
Marco Pannella and the Radical Party fought ferociously on behalf of the culture of death, including:
– against the family and indissoluble marriage
– against the unborn by promoting abortion in all its forms
– against the dignity of procreation, supporting human in vitro fertilization techniques
– against human dignity by promoting various forms of drug use and liberalization of the them
– against the dignity of marriage promoting contraception and gay ideology
– against life in the battles for euthanasia and assisted suicide.
The remarks by Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia demonstrates his blatant unworthiness to head the Pontifical Academy for Life and to serve as Chancellor of the John Paul II Institute.
We invite Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia to resign or, in case of refusal, publicly ask that he be removed from these positions.
