Cardinal Dolan: Hillary owes Catholics an apology

Cardinal Dolan: Hillary owes Catholics an apology

[If she doesn’t apologize, will His Immensity disinvite her to the Al Smith Dinner? A rhetorical question that begs a self-evident negative reply; i.e. NO!!!]

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado, October 19, 2016 (LifeSiteNews) – New York Cardinal Timothy Dolan called for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton to disassociate herself from anti-Catholic statements made by her campaign chairman and said the remarks were “extraordinarily patronizing and insulting to Catholics.”

Asked about the anti-Catholic comments after speaking at The Bishop’s Respect Life Dinner on Monday night for the Diocese of Colorado Springs, Cardinal Dolan suggested that had other faith traditions been the target of the prejudiced remarks, there would have been a swift apology and absolute disavowal of them.

But as far as an apology from Clinton for the remarks demeaning Catholics, “Hasn’t happened yet,” Cardinal Dolan said.

Emails released last week by WikiLeaks showed Clinton Campaign Chairman John Podesta and Director of Communications Jennifer Palmieri, both Catholics, in conversations with activists from two left-wing organizations. In the emails, Catholics were debased, with their beliefs being called “severely backwards.” Conservative Catholics also were accused of “an amazing bastardization of the faith,” and Rupert Murdoch was mocked for baptizing his children as Catholics in the River Jordan.

The U.S. Church’s bishops were slammed in the emails as well, referred to as “a middle ages dictatorship.”

Palmieri said in one of the emails she thought conservatives that had come to Catholicism did so because “they think it is the most socially acceptable politically conservative religion,” and that “their rich friends wouldn’t understand if they became evangelicals.”

Podesta admitted to helping launch a “progressive” infiltration of the Church in another email, and he took an active role in attempting to incite a liberal Catholic revolt against the U.S. bishops.

“We created Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good to organize for a moment like this,” Podesta wrote. “But I think it lacks the leadership to do so now. Likewise Catholics United. Like most Spring movements, I think this one will have to be bottom up.”

The “Catholic Spring” Podesta referred to had been broached in the email by Center for Progress President Sandy Newman, who had pondered, how one would “plant the seeds of the revolution,” or “who would plant them.”

Newman wrote Podesta:

“Hi John. This whole controversy with the bishops opposing contraceptive coverage even though 98% of Catholic women (and their conjugal partners) have used contraception has me thinking … There needs to be a Catholic Spring, in which Catholics themselves demand the end of a middle ages dictatorship and the beginning of a little democracy and respect for gender equality in the Catholic Church.”

The statements “are just extraordinarily patronizing and insulting to Catholics,” Cardinal Dolan told ABC affiliate News Channel 13 on Monday.

“If it had been said about the Jewish community, if it had been said about the Islamic community, within 10 minutes there would have been an apology and a complete distancing from those remarks,” he continued.

“Hasn’t happened yet,” he stated.

The cardinal, who is chair of the U.S. Bishops’ Committee on Pro-Life Activities, then said he’d like to see the Democratic candidate disassociate herself from the offending comments.

“I’m hoping that she’s going to distance herself from these very insulting remarks by her chief of staff,” Cardinal Dolan said.

He also told the news station that he trusts people to be guided by their moral convictions, and he expects people to be “acquainted with the issues.”

The Clinton campaign has not acknowledged the anti-Catholic emails, though they have been played down by at least one Democratic operative and Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Kaine, also a Catholic.

Catholics, some of who have also called for Podesta’s firing, have roundly criticized the email comments.

  1. “extraordinarily patronizing and insulting to Catholics.”

The Cardinal is upset that a woman who follows Saul Alinsky and who would issue an executive order to force Catholics to pay for abortions and Catholic hospitals to perform them surrounds herself with anti-Catholic bigots who make vulgar anti-Catholic comments in their emails. Well, well….

  2. Thursday, Oct 20, 7:55 PM EDT: This Dolan article, and Abp. Naumann of KCKS are near the top of the Drudge Report. It’s not because Drudge is favoring good bishops, I suspect, but to whack HRC. That’s OK, though.

    • Trump Lambastes Hillary at Al Smith Dinner

      Refuses to follow the script

      by Christine Niles, M.St. (Oxon.), J.D. • ChurchMilitant • October 21, 2016

NEW YORK – Refusing to follow the usual script, Donald Trump used Thursday night’s Al Smith fundraising dinner in New York to hammer his Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton. A normally lighthearted affair, where politicians are expected to lay down their swords for the evening and trade jokes over drinks and dinner, Trump departed from routine, taking the opportunity to again highlight Clinton’s criminality and deceit.

The evening started out with an icy reception from both candidates, who entered from opposite sides of the room and, as in the previous night’s debate, did not shake hands. After an introductory peppered with quips by Al Smith IV, great-grandson of Governor Al Smith, the first Catholic to run for president and after whom the annual charity dinner is named, Trump took the podium. He began with some well-delivered lines that brought laughter and applause.

“It’s great to be here with a thousand wonderful people, or as I call it, a small, intimate dinner with some friends,” he joked, “or as Hillary calls it, her largest crowd of the season.”

Another zinger also drew applause. “Just before taking the dais, Hillary accidentally bumped into me, and she very civilly said, ‘Pardon me,'” Trump said. After laughter and cheers from the crowd, he continued, “And I very politely replied, ‘Let me talk to you about that after I get into office.'”

Alluding to the millions Hillary has made off speaker’s fees to wealthy bankers and businessmen, Trump continued, “This is the first time ever — ever — that Hillary is sitting down and speaking to major corporate leaders and not getting paid for it.”

Trump also took the opportunity to call out media bias, which he has openly referred to in the past as “dishonest” and “corrupt.” After talking about both campaigns meeting each others’ teams, he remarked, “I got the chance to meet the people who are working so hard to get her elected.” Pointing to the back of the room, he said, “There they are — the heads of NBC, CNN, CBS, ABC. There’s the New York Times right over there and the Washington Post. They’re working overtime. True.” The remark drew cheers and whistles.

Things took a serious turn, however, when Trump highlighted Hillary’s fraudulent behavior. “Hillary is so corrupt she got kicked off the Watergate Commission,” he said. “How corrupt do you have to be to get kicked off the Watergate Commission? Pretty corrupt.” Loud boos followed the remarks — only the second time a candidate has been booed at the event. Jimmy Carter faced heckling in 1980 when he attended the Catholic charity dinner opposite Ronald Reagan, but the boos came from Catholics angered by Carter’s pro-abortion rhetoric.
Trump later made reference to Clinton’s private emails, in particular one where she admitted to Wall Street bankers that she takes different public and private positions on matters. “We’ve learned so much from WikiLeaks,” he said. “For example, Hillary believes it’s vital to deceive the people by having one public policy and a totally different policy in private.” After more boos from hecklers, he interjected, “I don’t know who they’re angry with — you or I.”

He continued, “For example, here she is in public pretending not to hate Catholics,” referring to recent WikiLeaks emails showing Clinton staffers denigrating Catholics — remarks for which Clinton has refused to apologize. The remark was especially pointed, given the Catholic nature of the fundraiser hosted by the New York archdiocese.

“Now if some of you haven’t noticed, Hillary isn’t laughing as much as the rest of us,” Trump continued. “That’s because she knows the jokes, and all of the jokes were given to her in advance of the dinner by Donna Brazile.” He was alluding to WikiLeaks revelations that Brazile as moderator of a debate between Clinton and Bernie Sanders unethically passed along a question in advance to the Clinton camp.

Brazile continues to deny the veracity of the emails. In response to Brazile’s denials, WikiLeaks published a tweet Thursday hinting at further revelations: “We have a surprise in store for @TimKaine and @DonnaBrazile.”

After Trump made a jab at the Clinton Foundation’s allegedly corrupt dealings in Haiti, drawing more heckling and jeers, Cdl. Dolan could be seen leaning in to Hillary in an attempt to calm her and smooth over the tension.

Cardinal Dolan himself ended the night with a short speech touching on generalities about immigration and other social justice tropes, but failed to offer any direct challenge to Clinton’s radical pro-abortion policies — the same policies that caused Dolan’s predecessor Cdl. John O’Connor to refuse to invite former presidential candidate Bill Clinton to the Al Smith Dinner.

Although Trump’s speech ended on a lighter note and was followed by polite applause, the awkward atmosphere continued, and Trump did not linger long after Cdl. Dolan’s speech, exiting the event early with his wife. Clinton, on the other hand, spent at least 20 minutes afterward mingling with the Democrat-heavy crowd, shaking hands with politicians, wealthy donors and media elites.

As ChurchMilitant has reported, the Al Smith Memorial Foundation’s board of directors is filled with are wealthy supporters of Democrat lawmakers, including the Foundation’s chairman Al Smith IV, former head of NBC Robert Wright, CEO of Mutual of America Thomas Moran, and New York Private Bank & Trust president Howard Milstein, among others. Federal Elections Commission records show they’ve donated thousands to various Democratic politicians, including to Obama himself.

  4. Mork: Your Immenseness, I know you must eat, but was her apology really that funny?

  5. The liberal apostates who cheered for Hillary at the Al Smith Dinner, just 24 hours after she defended the grotesque and cruel practice of partial-birth abortion through the ninth month of pregnancy, the most extremist pro-abortion position, demonstrate the depravity of AmChurch and the sad state of affairs which the progressive modernism of the Spirit of Vatican II has brought the Church and civilization. Very sad, disgraceful, and disgusting. It was embarrassing to see a Cardinal of the Catholic Church nodding and laughing at such a travesty. He should have been saying prayers of exorcism over such a demonic woman who celebrates and praises the murder of unborn human children.

  6. Hillary: As soon as I get in the Oval Office I’m going to sign an executive order to force the Little Sisters of the Poor to pay for partial-birth abortions!

The Donald: I’m hedging my bets by setting up a cable news channel to be called Trump News Channel (TNC) to compete with CNN; otherwise known as “Clinton News Network”:

Another TOLDYA: Trump Already Setting Up A Cable Channel

Reportage from the New York Post.

It was the plan all along, kids. It is all a brand-building strategy. The Trump News Channel will make billions fake-raging against Washington and the Clintons.

It is going to be the new Fox News. Hell, Roger Ailes is already signed as a “consultant”. Reportage on that HERE. I suspect they looked at Glenn Beck and realized that if a complete loon like Beck – (I truly believe that Beck has profound mental problems and is detached from reality) – could make as much of a go of it as he did with the Blaze project, that Trump and Ailes together could easily make billions. The Fox News schtick is played out and the public is catching on more and more to it, and Trump and Ailes know that if they “reboot” the business model and cut out Rupert Murdoch and Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, they’ll make billions.

Also, Ivanka’s husband is apparently the point man for the project. That reportage HERE.

The Donald: Hillary Clinton is a dyke.

Hillary: Yeah, also water is wet. So?

TOLDYA: Hillary Is A Lesbian, And Why These Things Matter

      Ann Barnhardt
This entry was posted in Uncategorized on October 19, ARSH 2016.

It seems that Hillary Clinton’s lesbianism is now being openly discussed. I think most people have at minimum assumed that she was a lesbian all along, or at least for many years now, so I suspect this will be yet another example of the 36 hour news cycle and effeminate indifference of the populace shrugging off yet another huge indicator.

“Hillary Clinton is a dyke. Yeah, also water is wet. So?”

Remember, as we discussed in the Diabolical Narcissism video, all sexual perversions are derivative of the overarching super-pathology of Diabolical Narcissism. Hillary Clinton, being a full-blown psychopath, was almost guaranteed to be monstrously sexually perverted.

This seems a good time to revisit a very hard truth that Christians need to face [Read more HERE].

  7. Cardinal: I’m sitting next to a hideous, demonic baby killer and laughing! [pounds table]
I may even make her the Grand Marshal of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade next year!
    And I’m a Catholic priest! Isn’t this a riot?

  8. Cardinal Dolan: I’ll say this – he may sound like Mr. Haney from Green Acres but Ted Cruz was right in part. We’ve all become victims of New York Times values!

Donald Trump: Oh, that’s a good one, Your Eminence.

Donald: I think that’s one for you, Hillary. Isn’t she doing a great job pretending not to hate Catholics with that crazy fake smile?
She looks like the Joker from Batman. She really does. She really does.
I hear that Cardinal Dolan may even let Anthony Weiner and Bill Clinton be Grand Marshals of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade if she wins!
No, no, no…I think they’ll keep it zipped during the parade, folks…

Cardinal Dolan: I think that’s a Presbyterian joke!
Isn’t it great how Protestants and Catholics aren’t killing one another anymore?

Donald: Except for the unborn babies that nasty woman doesn’t want!

Natasha Fatale: Are you sure this is way to Comrade Podesta’s office?

Boris Badenov: They are too busy laughing and drinking at bourgeoiski Al Smith Dinner to notice!

  9. The Cardinal can giggle and laugh in that company if he wants to but she is a very sick pathological narcissist sociopath whose Münchausen by proxy and liberal gaslighting with her open borders policy will allow anti-Christian barbarians to enter the country who will certainly kill innocent Americans and the cardinal’s fellow New Yorkers, as she manipulates them into Stockholm Syndrome under Alinskyite totalitarian rule. Laugh now. Innocent Americans will certainly be maimed and murdered as a result of the policies that will come from this wacko butch witch. She complains about the Russians while following Saul Alinsky and opening the doors to America for anti-Christian barbarians and terrorists. Talk about projection, she perfects it.

He should have said prayers of exorcism over her.
