Catholic World News – August 25, 2016

The Archdiocese of Mexico City has denounced the “aggressiveness and intolerance” of homosexual activists who spray-painted slogans on the walls of chancery buildings.

The Catholic Church has a clear stand on the sanctity of marriage, and has expressed and defended its position clearly, the archdiocesan said. But this “never has been done disrespectfully.” Therefore, the statement continued, the archdiocese will not apologize for its stand.

In a free society all voices should be heard, the archdiocese insisted. So the statement demanded that gay-rights activists show respect for the Catholic perspective and “avoid any kind of aggression against churches and their pastors.” The statement concluded with a call for civil authorities to investigate the acts of vandalism and punish those responsible “so that these acts of intolerance do not recur.”
