Lombardi: “Plan is Afoot to ‘Balkanize’ Sacramental Discipline”

From today’s Press Conference by Holy See Press Office Spokesman, Frederico Lombardi, S.J.:

[ Note: the Toronto Catholic Witness elesewhere refers to Fr. Nicholson, the arch-enemy of the SSPX and close associate of LaVoris & Co.  I include only the reported remarks of Lombardi, dated today.  They are bad enough all on their own. / gpmtrad ]

Fr. Frederico Lombardi:

“many of the speeches in the general discussions mentioned the possibility of dealing with questions on the basis of a given cultural context. I would say there were about twenty or so speeches and only two or three were against, claiming that for the sake of the Church’s unity handing over powers would have fatal consequences. I think that in this stage of the discussions, the idea is mostly shared. I, for example am German and it seems to me that the remarried divorces issue is very strongly and widely felt in Germany and much less so elsewhere. This is an area where there could be space for original pastoral ideas, also as far as the understanding of homosexuality goes, an issue that really varies from culture to culture. National Episcopal Conferences could be allowed to search for pastoral solutions that are in tune with their specific cultural context.”

  1. …”also as far as the understanding of homosexuality goes, an issue that really varies from culture to culture.” Not so, Lombardi, Scripture has spoken very clearly on this issue. Who are you to even voice an opinion on this matter?

  2. If anything exposes these moral and theological “catholic” frauds for what they are (as if we needed any more proof) is a statement like this!

So according to these modernists, Catholic dogma and natural law “varies from culture to culture”??!!

So, according to them, sodomy is alright, then we can assume it would be alright if we substitute homosexuality for any other immoral and unnatural act and sin, as long as that “culture”, or more accurately their secular elites, say it’s not wrong?

So using that logic Catholics in Islamic countries can be decapitated, burned, tortured and driven from their homes because their “culture” believes there is nothing wrong with doing that?!

Or in the West the murder of unborn babies is OK because the “culture” believes there’s nothing wrong with that?!

These people who promote this garbage, whether they are wearing collars, cassocks, or a business suit aren’t Catholics, nor are they Christians, they’re secular worldly humanists who are enemies of Jesus Christ, His Catholic Church and every man and woman who try to faithfully follow His teachings.

  3. The papal mouthpiece and defender of “therapeutic abortion” has hereby exposed the plan. Either this is Francis’ desire, or Fr. Labortion just aborted his job.

Hey Lavoris, got any comments on Fr. Lombarrassment?

  4. Catholic dissent from the progressive modernist party line at the Synod should be documented. This bishop may have a point:

Archbishop at Vatican Synod: The Family Today Is ‘Under Ferocious and Enormous Attack’ by ‘Satan’

    By Michael W. Chapman | October 13, 2015 | 1:03 PM EDT
One of the Catholic archbishops participating in the Vatican synod on the family objected to the document the bishops are working on because it does not address the fundamental reason for social turmoil, which is that the family today is “under a ferocious and enormous attack” by “the Devil.”

The Vatican document – Instrumentum Laboris (working instrument) — which is more than 22,000 words long, does not even mention “Satan,” “Lucifer,” or the “Devil.” Nor does it mention “demon.”

In his objection, Archbishop Peter Fulop Kocsis, head of the Hungarian Greek Catholic Church, further stressed that “a spiritual struggle is required in order to fight the attacks of Satan in these our times,” and this should be emphasized in the document, as reported the Catholic group Voice of the Family on Oct. 12.

In his objection, or intervention about the document at the synod, currently ongoing at the Vatican, Archbishop Kocsis said that although he was focusing on paragraph eight, chapter one, he sensed “a general deficiency in the text as a whole.”

Many of the paragraphs “speak of a changed society and epoch, calling these difficulties which have appeared in recent times ‘challenges,’” said the archbishop. But “it appears to me that the text misses a clarification which is more precise from its inception, from the root of these changes: From where do they come?”
“The great part of these [changes] are not compatible with the plan of God; they do not come from Him,” said the archbishop. “If it is thus, then it must be said: From where do these changes, these difficulties, derive?”

“We must say with clarity that in our very spoilt world the family and the man of good will with good intentions is under attack, under a ferocious and enormous attack,” said Archbishop Kocsis. “And this attack is of the Devil.”

“We must call these diabolic forces which have a role to play with these phenomena by name because this way we can find some indications even for the research of possible solutions,” he said.

The archbishop then quoted Ephesians 6, 12: “Our battle in fact is not against flesh and blood, but against the Principalities and the Powers, against the dominations of the dark world, against the spirits of evil that live in the celestial regions.”

“Thus, we can clearly see that in reality a spiritual struggle is required in order to fight the attacks of Satan in these our times,” said the archbishop.

    • It would be interesting (yet IMO not surprising) to see the results if they took a secret vote at this synod and asked these bishops if they believed in Satan, Hell and demons.

IMO, I would submit that the majority of these secular modernist bishops at this synod do not.

As you know Howl this goes back to Vatican II where the thinking was if you just make the Church less supernatural, more man centered and in their opinion (the modernist bishops) less “medieval” the world would view the Church as still relevant.

It’s stupid, but this is the mindset of these secular progressive modernists wearing mitres.

To them, turning the Church into a worldly, secular leftist NGO is more logical than upholding the Ten Commandments, the New Testament, natural law and Thomism.

To expand on Cyprian’s point above IMO I think the occupant of the Chair of Peter knows EXACTLY what’s going on at this synod, and is encouraging it!

Whether or not these liberal bishops, priests and the liberal and neo-Catholic “media” believe in Satan, Hell or demons, they are doing their bidding.

      • Sad thing I heard a while back from a good friend and orthodox Catholic relating a conversation he had while traveling through Spain with a NuPriest: the priest said approvingly at one point (which proved to be the end of the conversation for my friend) “well, the Church doesn’t really do supernatural these days.”

  5. Quite a few apostate progressive modernists among the clergy have completely abandoned a supernatural perspective on theology which makes it easy for them to think of religion as primarily about this-worldly social justice and wealth redistribution. It’s not even a debate for them: Jesus, God, Satan, Heaven and hell, sacraments – all of that is shelved for a quasi-Christian socialism only vaguely connected with themes and imagery from the Gospels used as window dressing for a progressive economic ideology.
