Volunteer Dies in Accident After Pope’s Mass in Philippines

[ Yet again, papolatrous show biz claims another poor victim… A JPII pope-a-looza fest had a fatality when these extreme vaudville antics first became the rage back in the 90s. End the madness and put the pope on the “No Fly” list – for at least the next 50 years. ]

A church volunteer died after she was hit by scaffolding following a Mass celebrated Saturday by Pope Francis in the central Philippine city of Tacloban, police said.

The 27-year-old woman was a volunteer with Catholic Relief Services and was among about 150,000 people who attended the rain-drenched religious ceremonies close to Tacloban’s seaside airport, said regional police chief Asher Dolina.

The pope visited Tacloban to comfort victims of a deadly 2013 typhoon.

Vatican spokesman the Rev. Federico Lombardi said the pope was informed about the woman’s death after returning to Manila. The pope cut short his visit to Tacloban because of an approaching storm that brought rain and strong winds to the city.

Francis asked his aides “to investigate how he could show his own suffering in solidarity with the (woman’s) family,” Lombardi said.

ABS-CBN television cited the medical director of the hospital where the woman was taken as saying she died from a skull fracture.

Local media reported the scaffolding was used as a loudspeaker platform and was toppled by a sudden gust of wind.

  1. “… Francis asked his aides “to investigate how he could show his own suffering in solidarity with the (woman’s) family,” Lombardi said… ”

The POPE had to resort to staffers about what to do???

Truly, madness has descended on all the earth, and especially Rome….

  2. Is offering mass for the repose of her soul still an option … or does universal salvation rule that unnecessary? Perhaps Fr Barron might like to enlighten the Pope on what to do.

  3. Just as with that poor fella that had a huge, ridiculous “sculpture” of “the Crucifix” (sic!) collapse upon him on the verge of JPII’s “cannot-ization….”

…this poor soul may have been yet one more victim of V2’s total surrender to the ways and means of the Mods, the seculars, the “hip” (gigantic audio speaker systems) and the defiantly delusional.

    Prayers for her soul.

  4. And, lest we forget, another JPII “event” related to the anticipated arrival of his “relics” at Lourdes.

And it happened twice! Both times, associated with an impending “visit” from Santo Subito.

  5. And, of course, there was THIS….

I’m not quite ready to join the tin foil hat crown, but I am studying the aluminum market more closely than ever these days, just in case!
