Latest News Direct from Iraq

[ The following was posted on a forum established by a friend, a MSGT, US Army, with multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. He is an exemplary Trad and could not be more gravely worried about many of his friends, which include a number of clergy and religious in Iraq. Please keep praying hard for the Catholics (and any other innocents) caught in this nightmare. ]

ISIS is mere minutes from Erbil, the last stronghold for our brethren in Iraq. Dear God…

Just a few minutes ago I received the following text message on my phone from Sean Malone who leads Crisis Relief International (CRI). We then spoke briefly on the phone and I assured him that we would share this urgent prayer need with all of our contacts.

“We lost the city of Queragosh (Qaraqosh). It fell to ISIS and they are beheading children systematically. This is the city we have been smuggling food too. ISIS has pushed back Peshmerga (Kurdish forces) and is within 10 minutes of where our CRI team is working. Thousands more fled into the city of Erbil last night. The UN evacuated it’s staff in Erbil. Our team is unmoved and will stay. Prayer cover needed!”
I received this and know it to be true. Our Holy Father is very concerned. We all know the power of prayer so I am asking you to pray for all people who suffer because of their religious beliefs. The Catholic News Service has lots of information on what is going on.

  1. Continued prayers for all in Iraq, Syria, and other places these atrocities are taking place.

*Caution: This site has rubbish esp. along the right side of the page. I’d just post the article, but I’m not sure how to in this format.

This was posted over the weekend from the UK. I don’t know how accurate it is, but it is news and includes a map showing IS presence and control in the area.

Any updates from the front lines via the forum?
