Sri Lanka: Catholic Church desecrated; Hosts burned but remain intact

Reported in Si Si No No magazine, July 2013 No 13, p6 (in Italian):–

At 10pm on 5 June 2013, at Angulana, in the Archdiocese of Colombo, at the church of S. Francis Xavier, vandals destroyed an old statue of Our Lady and took the tabernacle from the altar, doused it with at least 30 litres of kerosene/paraffin, and set fire to it. When the fire had burned out, the consecrated hosts were found completely intact – which could not have happened in the normal course of events. The parishoners, hailing the miracle, wrote to the newspaper, saying, “Christ having died and risen again cannot be destroyed”.
