Vatican newspaper gives blanket coverage to latest James Bond movie
CWN – October 30, 2012
The Vatican newspaper has devoted a series of complimentary articles to the latest James Bond movie.
L’Osservatore Romano gives a positive review to Skyfall, saying that the latest incarnation of the British secret agent is “more human, capable of being moved and of crying: in a word, more real.”
The Vatican newspaper also includes, in its Tuesday edition, an interview with the film’s star, Daniel Craig; a rundown of previous actors who portrayed the Bond character; a note on how author Ian Fleming chose the name for his action hero; and a review of the soundtracks for the 23 Bond films that have appeared to date.
Since the arrival of Gian Maria Vian as the newspaper’s editor in 2007, L’Osservatore Romano has made a concerted effort to engage the world of popular culture, frequently carrying reviews and essays on films and music.
