On the feast of St. Matthew, 68 days after his 75th birthday, 5 days after the 50th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood, 33 years, 2 months, and 26 days after being ordained the bishop of Rochester, Pope Benedict XVI has accepted the resignation of Bishop Matthew Clark.

I’m sure I speak for everyone here when I say we wish him well in his retirement and will keep him in our prayers.

The Pope removed him quickly, they usually wait more than a year to replace bishops, here it took 2 months

Unfortunately, it was 33 years, two months and 26 days too late.

Cunningham, from my faint recollection, is a much more moderate sort and a good guy.

Rochester has been a basket case for so long his work is cut out for him. And yet, there are some very fine Catholics still there. I expect their rellief is considerable now that the reign of homo-lovin’ Clarky is past.
