Pakistan: [Muslim] protestors shatter cathedral windows, shoot at nun’s car
CWN – September 21, 2012
Angered by the YouTube video critical of Muhammad, 8,000 protestors took to the streets of the southeastern Pakistani city of Hyderabad on September 16. Some protestors threw stones at the Catholic cathedral, shattering windows. As a nun’s car attempted to enter the cathedral complex, shots were fired, injuring the nun’s driver in the leg.
On September 17, protestors attempted to attack a Catholic hospital but were rebuffed.
“A large group of young Christians and Muslims prevented this from happening, defending the hospital,” said James Francis, the lay administrator of St. Elizabeth’s Hospital. “Many citizens defended us, preventing it from being violated and pillaged. The situation is now under control, thanks to the responsibility of the police and institutions.”
