Yesterday Timothy Cardinal Dolan delivered a message for Bishop Clark’s 50th anniversary to the priesthood. The [Rochester Catholic] Courier reports (www.catholiccourier.com/news/local-news/mass-of-thanksgiving-honors-a-great-bishop/):

Only a couple of minutes into his homily, Cardinal Dolan, who noted that all were gathered “to salute a great Bishop of Rochester,” got to the prevailing sentiment of the occasion.
“Why don’t I just say it, what’s in all our hearts. Matthew, we love you very much,” Cardinal Dolan remarked, setting off thunderous applause that became a standing ovation.
The Cardinal, with his recent actions, reminds me of Flounder, in Animal House: Fat, dumb and stupid.
Correction. That should have been, “Fat, drunk and stupid.”
Y’know, I honestly think that I could just have received a telegram informing me that I had won the Irish Sweepstakes ( do they even run that, anymore, LOTI? ), been elected President by universal acclamation, been given a brand new Ferrari by the Italian government ( for no particular reason at all ), gotten a fan email from Christy Brinkley and just had the entire concept for solving the world’s financial woes pop into my mind, clear as a bell, and then checked in with
