‘The Catholic bishops are in nobody’s political pocket’

CWN – July 04, 2012

In one of the first efforts of Catholics Voices USA—a “media-friendly and studio-ready” lay initiative that seeks to “put the Church’s case in the public square”– Melissa Moschella argues in the New York Daily News that

the Catholic Church is willing to go to the mat to defend religious freedom — in these cases, the freedom to serve the needy regardless of their religion or immigration status — independently of whether the challenges to that freedom come from the right or the left, from the Obama administration or from hard-line right-wing state governments.

  1. Cyprian says:

This is the latest version of the “seamless garment.” The USCCCP published their letter months ago, putting immigration alongside the HHS mandate. Hegel would be proud. They’re going to deliver the Catholic swing to Hussein. Just keep watching.

Did you ever hear about the bishops being in somebody’s political pocket when sodomite Cd. Bernardine and Marxist Fr. Hehir imposed the original “seamless garment?” That’s because they never actually opposed abortion. Now they actually oppose the mandate. But not to worry. It will eventually reach the importance level of child murder, about a 3 on a scale of 1 to 10, that is.
