Still out of work and “homeless”: six months

Greetings, all …

I am still unable to find work. I came back to the KC Metro area because I thought I had a long term living arrangement set up. It seems I misunderstood the offer of my hosts (who are very kind to have kept me for a month). I have no other options and I am still unable to find work, which becomes more complicated when I do not know where I am going to live. Someone is trying to find a place for me in Dallas, TX. Doors seem to open and then quickly shut. I’m posting this link to my Linkedin profile. If you know of any leads, please pass my resume along.

I know there are many people out there in my situation. It is a terrible economy. The unemployment numbers (not the DOL stats) are at 25% or higher – US record high. Higher than the “Great Depression”. Globally, the situation is worse.

Please continue to keep me and these families in your prayers. God will reward you.

I pray things improve for you very soon.
You will remain in my poor prayers.

    Erica,

I quickly glanced at your Linkedin profile and spotted this:

Volunteer work: stratigic planning and content editing.

Is it supposed to say strategic planning…?

My husband couldn’t find work so we (all six of us) ended up moving overseas three years ago. (We had nothing left either when he got this job three years ago.)

Hi Erica, Have you by chance looked at possibilities in North Dakota? It is my home state and it has been rather successful economically for many years…even before the big oil boom in Williston. I know that both Dickinson and Bismarck/Mandan have an SSPX chapel. I also get letters from Minot saying they are looking to bring new people to that city. My cousin says it is impossible to not find a job there. :-) And then there is Williston with all the oil activity. Someone with your credentials should be able to find something around that state, it seems. I do have oodles of relatives there who likely have connections if you want to send me an email so I could link you up with some of them.
Also ND is a very friendly, rural type state…like Kansas.

    • UTBS …

Actually, I have joked around about that possibility because ND has the lowest unemployment rate in the nation.

Practically speaking, I can’t because I don’t know anyone I can live with until I find work. Job hunting remotely is not working. I have to connect with employment agencies who want to interview immediately even if they really don’t have anything for you. I’ve tried offering Skype interviews but employers are turned off by this. Why go though all that trouble when there are hundreds of people living right there who are qualified for the job?

      Thanks,
      Erica
