Speaking to the Catholic News Service of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (CNS) in an interview recorded a few hours ago, Cardinal Burke has remarkable words on the ongoing process:

It is to be hoped that Cardinal Burke will personally intervene in this matter. Once again, as it happened in the case of the almost-full-approval of the Neocatechumenal liturgy, dark and hidden agents in the Curia could perhaps be trying to distort the will and words of the Holy Father, and good men like His Eminence may have to act forcefully.

I have to disagree with his Eminence. Obedience is not at the heart of the Church, the true Faith is its heart. When he talks of other “ideas and ways” being called to obedience, are they also being called to the True Faith? Cardinal Mahoney is within the visible bonds of unity with the Church but whether he holds the Catholic Faith is certainly debatable. The Church is not some fragmented “ecclesiastical unity in diversity.” Unity without the Faith is a false unity.

I will say his Eminence does appear to be a man of personal humility and faith.

Did the Archdruid sign a preamble before receiving a pectoral cross?

I sensed that Cardinal Burke wants help within the Church for help with restoring Tradition. He is one of those Cardinal’s who Bishop Fellay mentioned is a friend of Tradition, so i see this as almost begging the SSPX to join to help out in the restoration. I know from sources that Cardinal Burke is a close personal friend of Father John Berg , FSSP Superior.
