I like to read the posts and enjoy the left hand column that lists the posts in order of newest to oldest. However the site itself takes a long time to load and I have gotten error 503 on a few occasions. Now that I have mastered logging in, I am grateful that Angelqueen is still online.

If your run Firefox, look at this page for options to speed-up your download. One plugin called “noscript” might even block the download of the javascript support files which makes up the bulk of the download. I couldn’t confirm this, but it’s worth a try.

I searched a whole bunch for WordPress options for low-bandwidth users. You may have seen sites that have a button for users to select a plain text option. I didn’t find anything, but maybe some blogger experts can chime in.

Where is the ’0′? I would’ve voted zero. 5+ for the old AQ vs 0 for the new!!!!!
I hate the new AQ and I know I’m not the only one who hates it. 90+% of postings are by one person, which makes AQ a personal website. No disrespect meant Tom. Where is everybody else? They voted already by their absence. It takes way too long to load, and when I go from one topic to another, it takes longer yet to load. The old AQ was snap, snap, snap, this one is zzzz, snore, zzzz. Good-bye Tom and Servitium. God bless you all. I’m outta here!

The new AQ is also “snap, snap, snap”:

Select “Post” under the “+New” drop-down menu at the top

Copy-and-past and/or write in whatever you wish (and if desired, using the menu at the top to bold or italicize text and to add images, links or videos)

Push the “Publish” button to the right (or the “Preview” button above it to check your post before publishing it).

First off, thank you Servitum for AQ!

The new AQ just doesn’t seem as efficient, and I don’t feel like I can “see” what’s going on. Two things that I miss about the old AQ are…

    1) The ability to see a bunch of post titles at a glance. The new format with the only allows me to see one or two.

    2) The way that comments forced topics to bubble back to the top of the list on the old format. This is sort of duplicated with the left hand column’s “Latest comments”, but if there’s 3 or 4 comments on a given post, they take up a lot of real estate over there.

I’m sure I’ll get used to the new AQ, but if there’s anyway to further limit the size of posts’ listings on the home page, that would be welcome.

    1. Thanks to Serv, Tom, Tim, ECS et al for keeping AQ going. It remains the leading source of the most refined, circumspect and erudite commentary available. Period. There are other sites with other commendable features, not a few of which benefit from posts by long-time AQ members. However, what distinguishes AQ is that its intellectual and theological development has been truly organic. What began as a simple contact point for diasporized Trads grew quite naturally, albeit phenomenally, into a forum for everyone from articulate thinkers dealing with intense issues, to Trad newbies and to folks who simply are looking for sound information on a great range of matters. AQ remains singularly equipped to handle more issues, more quickly and with more member-directed assistance than any other Trad website.

    2. While the new format is, for me, a challenge, the consolation is that my friends are ( almost ) all still here. Over time, the adjusting will be accomplised and the promise of in-depth, reliable insights and mirth will inevitably make the effort easier.

Tom brings relevant content – lots of it. An information clearinghouse/hub is EXACTLY what our mission is, has been and will continue to be. An information and communication asset for the online English speaking traditional Catholic contingent. It never has been and never will be about pleasing members, “customers,” advertisers or any individuals.

I’m wondering who coined the term “there’s a WAR goin’ on out there.”

Hence, when someone stomps away because he/she feels wounded, it’s something of a natural selection process. If you can’t deal with me, Tom, ECS, the tech changes, software upgrades – whatever – you would be better off at one of the many “chat” forums.

I’m sorry but I REALLY do not like this new format at all. I liked the old forum where it was easy to scroll down and see all the posts. This one is too hard to navigate and too visually distracting.

    Ofwah

I have to agree with ofwah.
I find this much harder to follow the posts on.
