“Eleison Comments” by Mgr. Williamson – Issue CCLIV

I am posting this for information/discussion purposes. I disagree strongly with the spin given to Dignitatis Humanae (Bishop Williamson omits to mention the document’s reference to “due limits” for religious liberty) and Bishop Fellay’s remarks in his recent CNS interview. — DOCTRINE UNDERMINED Entire books have been written on the subject of religious liberty as taught by Vatican II in its Declaration of 1965, Dignitatis Humanae. Yet the Revolutionary teaching of that document is clear Read more [...]

Tackling the ‘taboo’: Catholicism and divorce

Tackling the ‘taboo’: Catholicism and divorce By Matt C. Abbott 2/24/12 www.renewamerica.com/columns/abbott/120224 Let’s talk about divorce, shall we? More specifically, Catholicism and divorce. From the Catechism of the Catholic Church: Divorce is a grave offense against the natural law. It claims to break the contract, to which the spouses freely consented, to live with each other till death. Divorce does injury to the covenant of salvation, of which sacramental marriage Read more [...]

On an Experiment of Tradition–PART TWO

(Posted on other forums as “Bishop Fellay and the General Council–PART TWO”) Would Archbishop Lefebvre approve of the present readiness of the Superior General and the General Council–May, 2012–to make an “as is” canonical agreement with Rome in the near future? It would seem no. Objection 1. Three of the four bishops he ordained have expressed opposition to a near-future agreement (so-called “Letter of the 3”). Objection 2. It is recalled how in 1988 the Archbishop strongly Read more [...]

Fear Uncertainty and Doubt: Marketing Tools in the SSPX Regularization Drama

I have noted quite a lot of FUD (fear, uncertainty and doubt) being flung about in the ethernet regarding the SSPX regularization. The spectrum of opinions and speculations is quite extensive. What I find lacking is exposition of some of the more important facts of the situation. 1. Benedict XVI is the Vicar of Christ 2. The Vicar of Christ has in some manner intervened directly in the discussions with the SSPX. 3. In this intervention the Vicar of Christ has asked/ordered the SSPX to Read more [...]

Authors: I’ve discovered a FANTASTIC way to lose your posting privileges!

Not sure how anyone, especially here, ever got the bright idea that AQ, the SSPX and/or Holy Church are democracies. None ever were, at any point in time, ever. For those authors who haven’t disabused themselves of this notion, I have first hand info that there are many others who would absolutely love to take your place as an author here. Hence, if you are feeling charitable and wish to give your author spot to another non-author AQ member, here are a few tips: - Write an article Read more [...]

RE: The AQ downtime

Long story short, the way AQ was built into the new setup wasn’t optimal for the amount of traffic we get. Hence we were running much slower (sometimes not at all) than we should have been. We switched from a Microsoft box to a Linux 4G setup. Should be a lot faster and more stable.
